Thanks 90_383; still working on it, just haven't updated in a while. I have the new ball joints installed and the beam painted, trans axle is painted and ready to go and I have a pile of parts that has been sand blasted and need to be painted, and then I can start the final assembly. Very Happy

I used the brush on, I found it easy to get into the tight areas.

Forgot to ask . . . did you use the spray or brush on hammertone paint on your chassis?

Thanks!

Mine didn't have the upholstered body tub pieces, just a homemade bench seat out of particle board. I couldn't stand it, it sat me up to high, the top of the windshield was right in the middle of my line of sight.

Thanks for the kind words, I can't wait to see it on all four wheels.

You should cover and weld closed any holes in the tunnel that aren't original.

I used Rustoleum Hammered Black and Silver, I really like the textured finish. Now I have to work on the front beam and trans-axle.

Are you going to weld up the holes in the tunnel before painting?

Very inovative build, my favorite buggy body.

lol I saw that in the pic and read down the thread just waiting for this comment....
very true though the original baklite material is way better than the plastic they use for the clear knock off caps...

I got to work on it some more this weekend. I am just about ready to clean and prep for paint. I think I have most of the welding done, still have a couple of tabs to weld on.
Can you guys think of anything else before paint?

It's been a while since I got to work on it, but I finally got too this weekend. It seems the smaller stuff takes forever to get it done.
I got the ends welded up

I go the battery tray made, still have some tweaking on the hold down, but it fits nice. I think I found a good place for the voltage regulator.

I made the mount for the fuse box.

After much deliberation, I realized that I could not live with the console rubbing my knee, so I moved the console forward about 9 inches. It feels much nicer, not hitting my leg.

Check out the dash cluster that I got on ebay.

It is from a 1947 Willys Overland truck, it has all electric gauges. The speedometer is busted, so over the winter I will try to retrofit the VW speedometer into it.

I got the body cut to match the changes and I test fitted the body. I worked better than I hoped, I got about 2.5 inches out of the deal.
