I would make one out of a solid piece of wood and cut a groove down the middle the size of your stamps. If that works you can make a metal one so that they can't move around as much.
You could also try the other way. Find something that will hold all of the stamps evenly and press them all down at the same time. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

I actually made one out of tongue depressors and hot glue, and it works a lot better than when I freehanded it, but obviously needs tweaking. _________________ Dave

My first attempt at making my own VIN key tag. It's harder than it looks to get the numbers straight! Plus the material bent a little from the stamping. Need to find a better key ring, too.

That is fantastic! Are these made at all today by any companies? I would love to get a set for my VW Van! Let me know. Thank you!

The late ones are just stamped on a very thin bit of tin!
I have access to one from my late Uncle's car if you really want the details of a late tag....
I may even be able to find a shop local to me with thin enough tin that I could even stamp it for you...
Most people prefer the earlier style ones as they're far nicer...
I supply them polished - or with a natural patina as they have been chilling out in my possession for a number of years now....
Feel free to PM me if you wish! _________________ Jan 1968 1500cc - The family project! Celebrating 30 years off the road....

I'd like to make one of the later style for myself. Can someone help me with the measurements? (of width and length)
I read that the thickness on the later ones is 0.6mm. Is that right?
Thanks! _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74

The dollar option here does not come with tracking or insurance. If the item you are shipping isn't expensive it doesn't pay to track it and insure it. It's just cheaper to buy it again. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

I wish I could ship for a dollar!
I have just checked the rates - they are as follows....
Economy (up to 42 days delivery time! No tracking - nothing!) £1.47
Standard (up to 7 days delivery time. No tracking) £2.27
Tracked (signed for is an option at the same price - up to 7 days delivery time) £7.25
I am awaiting a fresh batch of mylar envelopes and I can then begin shipping these should anyone want them again! _________________ Jan 1968 1500cc - The family project! Celebrating 30 years off the road....

Sorry to bump an old thread.....
I bought the tooling to produce these back in 2014.....
I have finally got a press and can now start to produce these as before.
Please drop me a pm in the first instance - if there is enough interest I will set up a classified ad.

You can drop them in the mail. It's $1 for an international stamp here. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

My friend Bob Walton just bought some from you this weekend at OCTO. He was so excited he called me as you were doing it-getting vins for all his T3s! Making sure one of us was in front of the computer for him |
Yeah that was crazy.
He bought blank tags from me and then came back later to have me stamp them all. He had me do 6 tags at the show. I also did some dealer tags; Truman Motors, Economotors & Riviera Motors.
Thanks again Bob! |
