After I cleaned all my connectors and had the tail lights wired and functioning I still was not a 100% satisfied with the result.
I took a voltage check and I only had 4 volts to the tail lights. Everything else on the car reads at 6 volts.
Rather than change the harness out at this time I decided to run relays and put off changing the harness.

I don't have pictures of the brackets. I will take some for you.

How come you had to use relays? Have you made them as indicators? Do you have any pictures of your cut brackets? Wink

I just installed Chips LEDs on my 54. I ended up running relays for both the brake and running lights and I am very pleased with how bright the tail lights are.

For brackets I cut down a pair of heart brackets that I had and they worked out fine.

Is there any movement on mounting brackets yet? Are there any owners who have mounted these? And do you have photos.

Message for chip

Will these work on either 6 volt or 12 volt? Will it affect the brightness of the leds? Will it come with instructions regarding wiring and jumper configuration?

Do you have pictures of your trimmed down brackets just so we know what is involved.

Many Thanks

Paul

My lights do not come with brackets. Something will need to be fabbed to hold them. I hope to offer them in the future, but can not at this time the lights each have 2 mounting points. I currently have a very trimmed down bracket for my housing and will need to build some tabs off of it to hold the lights. Best advise i can give is to buy some nasty brackets someone is replacing and butcher to suit your needs, don't buy the new ones if you plan to run these lights, they will need major trimming to work.

Question for ya Chip

I have a set of heart lights for my 54, I just need to buy the brackets to mount to the fender. my question is does your kit come with different brackets to mount to the fender. I'm about to buy a set of repops for $130 plus shipping, will they work or does your kit replace them, thanks, Louis

"Bob" Its been a LONG time, glad that the oldies are still treating you well! Thanks for the kind words!

Pig-pen-
These are ready to move. I just need to build an ad. I won't post it here on this thread as I don't think this is the appropriate place for it. In the mean time folks are welcome to contact via pm and we can hammer out details there. There are 29 sets left in this first batch.

Amber up top is just fine.

Chip, my man, you are an artist.
I've got a couple of your snowflake sets, (6V & 12V) and drive with confidence knowing the guy behind me can see when I'm braking or turning.

Sorry for the long time between posts. Just trying to enjoy the last few days of summer with the family!

On to business...
Here are a couple photos of them lit, followed by the power supplies for each part.

The big one is the one that decides which light performs what function. Right now, if tied together, the lights perform as a dual filament setup, which when used with a trailer light converter can get you a third function as well. Meaning that the lights are designed to both perform brake and running light functions or any combo between, with the two lights performing these functions, trailer light converter allows you to take one of these circuits and make it perform 2 functions. 56-61 cars do this, they use the same circuit for brake and turn. BUT if a Separate turn signal is wanted/needed, the heart can be separated from the flat lens, and controlled directly by the vehicle. It does not need to be powered by the flat lens, it can just be controlled by it if wanted. Make sense?

Egg guys, I can accommodate. I'll have to break up sets, but I can deal with that.

Chip is the man! I bought a set of his lights for my 57. Quality kit and excellent customer service. Now I'm waiting for him to make a kit for later beetles (64)...
