A lot of good hose clamp info to be gleaned in this video:

Try Stoddard’s
Not sure about the length. 9mm x 700mm

Thanks for that info! Now that you mention it, I remember seeing those type a while back. These straps are the ones sold by WW currently. If anyone know any place that sells the correct ones, please post on this thread. Alternatively, one can cut and round the edges of these incorrect cotters. _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74

That's not the correct cotter pin for the clamps.
The correct ones are of equal length and somewhat rounded on the ends so the worry of the sharp ends of the cotter pin poking through the boot are not a worry. |

Nope. That cut the ear on the band for removal.
This is what you are looking for!

I believe it is an “Ear joint” plier. Almost 90% sure, but probably goes by other names. Don’t confuse this with a pinch joint. Two separate types. The pinch joint does not hold as well as the ear joint, due to the dimple on the top of the ear!
Now that was reaching way back in time! You are testing my abilities big time.
I would bet Amazon has ear joint pliers. _________________ Jimbo

Bus’s, nice job on the clamp video! I cut the cotter pin end off so they are in line with the clamp and no portion of the pin contacts anything, before installing the pin. Easy to do with a saw and a file, or a pair of linesman pliers and a file.
That band clamp you had in place before installing the roll pin one is a crimped clamp. Takes special pliers sold off of most tool trucks. Here is my pair.

Yes, I realized that after I did the drivers side one. So left the left side one loose until I mounted it. Will level it further before I install and tighten the later style crimp clamp. _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74

Great video Byas!
You should pull the end of the axle up so it is approximately at the same level as it will when the car is complete before tightening the small clamp. Right now the rubber boot is stressed to full droop. _________________

@nlorntson - Nancy, on the last time around, the band is inserted between the split in the cotter pin, correct? I'm getting to ready to install these on my 65.
Thanks,
