OH WOW!!!! Were your house keys on the key chain? You should for sure have all the locks changed on the van tho and house if needed.
I am so happy for you and for it not being trashed!!!! Hope you don't have to pay the tow and storage. _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

The key code is stamped on the door handles. Only one screw holds the driver or pass door handle in. Take out that screw take the handle to a locksmith. He can look up the code and make keys from it. My local guy cuts keys from the code for $25 including 2 keys. I do this all the time to replace badly worn keys.

My guess is that this increases the chances of finding it or getting it back. Drive around and look everywhere. It may be parked somewhere, even close by.

go on your trip, enjoy, try to not make any decisions at this time. Still expect pics and later you can decide. Someone had obviously been watching you load, etc... _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

Well we were getting it ready to roll soi had left the keys init.
A kill switch would have been nice, or an extra button you gotta hold down to start it.
Anyway, its gone. There is a decent looking westy north of me and a tin topper to the south. I honestly don't know if I have it in me to restore another van, I'm tired. Lots of bad luck and work with that van.
There's a previa for 1500 around. Ill need something for the 3 kids and wife. |

When my conversion was done I was shown 2 different fuses that I could remove in the engine compartment so that the van could not be started under any circumstances. I don't use it as it is a PITA to get at but perhaps it could be rigged closer to the driver's area, hidden. Mine is diesel, I don't know if it is different for a gasoline.
I'm thinking that there should be a thread started re this stolen van (don't know if that's allowed) for pictures, VIN, info etc.... _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

WOW...Sorry to hear that. Will keep a look out in my neck of the woods. Were the keys left in it? Was it locked? Are these things easy to start without key? Besides locking it up, what precautions should we, or could we be taking. |

That is crazy to here about your van. Unreal what kind of people are out there. Hopefully one of these days there will be something like Onstar for other makes to help recover our vehicles when they are stolen. I do know the local used car lots install a GPS system in there vehicles when they finance them in house to help recovering them easier. You may want to look into something like that hopefully when and if you get it back. After this post of yours it is making me wonder if I should take my own advice. Good Luck and I am thinkg positive for you that you get her back and she is ok. |

Well I finally got a quite moment away from the kids, came to peace with the fact that shes gone.
She has a very notable wooden 4x4 rear bumper and a samba.com sticker on the rear window and drivers side rear window, there is also a large runic B in the rear window.
We are making the trip in my dads jeep, if for no other reason to keep me from freaking out and give myself something to deal with for a while.
Thanks to everyone for the support. |

Oh that is horrible, what a sad sinking feeling when you see it is gone.
I too will be watching, hopefully just a joy ride or other nonsense. In Tucson stolen cars are over the border before anyone knows they're gone but hopefully in Santa Fe it will remain local. |
