I'm interested in a tonneau cover to replace my Swedish tilt -I'm not a fan of the reduced visibility. But OMG that is a lot of money for a canvas cover. But I do like the headache bar that comes with the Swedish tilt and the referenced tonneau cover looks like it would need substantial modifications to work with it.

We, at VW Upfitters, produce a nice rack for these trucks. It's intended to mount a platform tent and other camping supplies. It fits without any drilling or modification to the bed or the gates.

I too would love to find a solution for my bed... have been giving thought to buying some heavy waterproof tarp fabric and sewing up a homemade tonneau.

Ditto what SSWesty says - CPVC will be way to flimsy, I doubt it’s hold up at 30mph with canvas on it. Lots of folk use 1/2” & 3/4 PVC pipe for little garden greenhouses because it’s so flexible. A bit stronger then CPVC, but still not enough I’d think.
EMT metal conduit would be the cheapest strongest option, just trickier to find things like crosses and tees that fit (PVC, galvanized, copper?). Would have to browse a good hardware store for a bit.

canopy's are to easy to be slashed by thieves and prone to weather damage. save your coin and opt for something like this! If someone ever figures this out on this side of the pond, or finds a way to tag into someones shipping container. this would be the winner!

| You may also want to explore options with EMT conduit, it's affordable and I think you can rent a conduit bender pretty cheap. Since it's metal you'll have plenty of options for attachments, drill a hole and add a bolt. Seems like 3/4" would work pretty nice, maybe 1". Good luck. |

I need a cover, but I can't do $2000 right now.

mmmdiesel, sorry I just saw your post. To restore the shine and condition to the stock tilt I used a product called "Black Again" that I got from my local FLAPS store. I've used it to shine the plastic on my dash, mirrors and rubber seals. Of course I have to apply it at least 2-3X a year to keep the shine. For the tilt it seems to last a few months. I tend to use my tilt only during the summer months May-October (winter here is high winds and rain) and I applied it at least twice during that time it is UV activated. Until I know better I'm satified with this product.

Which one are you getting? I saw three there a couple of weeks ago. I know the green 16" is going to Alaska. There was Marsala(?) Red and and white one. Can recall but possibly a blue one there too. I'm 2 hours south west of Jeff. Might get a chance to drop it by there or see you at SF. The thing is I am only likely going to SF for one day. Typically Thursday only.
