I have not been on here in a while, my bus has gone through some changes, I got rid of RGB's and went solid axle. Flipped the spindles in the front and now the bus is really low. I really enjoy driving it and I am assembling all the pics and a write up.

I know, right. Felt like I was painting by numbers. LOL. Hopefully I did everything right and the motor holds up.

Any further updates 61TX?

I am impressed with your 'mechanical aptitude', especially since you've split the case and then reassembled the whole sha'bang. AND it runs too?!?! Good on ya, bro.... Cool

You'll probably be ok for standard cruising.

Thanks Kit, it is a blast to work on and your right, my kids love it. We had a get together last night and our club was happy to see the bus back on the road. Do you have pics of your rescue?

No middle seat. I have a table instead but wouldn't mind finding a middle seat.

Here is an update. My motor spun a crank bearing and the material clogged one of the oil passages on the crank going to piston 1. I took block completely apart with step by step instructions from the "Bug Me Video". I took the block and had it machined, crank, and rods also. I then started the step by step process of rebuilding it. I also replaced the two relief valves. During the process, I dropped one of my pistons and put a dent in the edge, luckily a buddy had an extra piston that he gave to me. So rings and all bearings are new now. Everything came together rather easy. Once motor was installed, it would not start. Even though I didn't remove the distributor gear, I now have to put my distributor 180 off. The motor runs perfectly and I have already adjusted the valves and changed the oil after 25 miles. So far so good, does not heat up and has excellent power. Just need to get my distributor gear flipped and it will be good.

I think that the best part is that the PO already cut the rear fenders so I can put some monster mudders on it!! YEEEEEEHAWWWW!! So, has anyone fixed rear tire fenders that have been cut? Once I confirm the year, I will order the correct panels for repair. Thanks for all your help.

yes. its fairly common for the rear tire repair. hit up Gerson. he'll get you what you need. and there is no better metal than his for patch panels.

Any contact info for Gerson? I need to fix my rear tire fenders too...
