It is the oldest physically known.... The information ( vin number for 20-03182) has been pulled off of an old Swedish site many year ago, but has never been seen in person by anyone! I have pesonal emailed Tony (barndoor.dk) about the information and he stated that bus # 20-03182 is on the registry but he doesn't think it exists. I personalty think the registry needs to be cleaned up on the early bus section, starting with bus 20-01502! Confused Just because it's on a website doesn't mean it's real.....

That's a Standard.

Sorry to get back to "the oldest" theme, but the oldest Kombi I know and have seen in flesh is 20-02469 in D:

Sorry... That bus is a Standard. And that is the oldest known window bus in the world!!! Very Happy

Ah thank you for the input!

Woah I didn't even realize what that was. There were so many nice cars at that show I must have passed her right by.

check out www.speedstyles.blogspot.com . I have 200ish pics from the show. Just keep looking at previous posts.

Looks like Joe Mond standing behind it in one picture and the "set up" with the trinkets etc looks like something he would do. I am guessing it is his. I was at the show the night before but had to leave on an emergency and missed seeing this bus. Looks very cool and wish I could have seen it in person.

i was looking through the covvc website to view the results of the show:

http://www.covvc.org/volksfest.htm

looks like the bus belongs to joe mond from dubuque, iowa.

i believe the man standing under the blue tent in the second picture wearing the tan shorts and white t-shirt is mr. mond. he was answering questions and pointing things out while i was looking at it.

any more pics?

i posted all the pictures i took. i was hoping others who went to the show would offer more pictures and information...not start a heated argument over who has the oldest bus in the world.

i mentioned that i don't know much about buses...i was only regurgitating what i read at the show.

Nice to see the old engine in it. The Okrasa was neat, but seemed a little out of place.

If you have independent information about the existence of the bus, please share. I'm not bagging on you, I'd like to hear for the sake of getting the info. out there.

It could be as simple as:
A good friend of mine, who I trust, has seen the bus, but the current owner is very private and doesn't want the bus details posted.

If you have no direct info, let us know that as well.

Thanks,
j.

To be honest as far as I am concerned it is just hearsay but yes a good friend "in the know" says its now in the UK and the owner wants to keep a low profile. I have no personal proof of its existence.

Thanks for the update.
I think the current owner of the USA Kombi can get away with his "earliest" display statement until further verification is available.
It might even bring the bigfoot kombi out into the open again.
