Does that emblem fit on an 87? I'm looking to replace mine as well. _________________ 1987 Westfalia 2.2L GoWesty Engine |

The emblem on my grill was missing when we got the van. Saw this at GW. Wanted to add my personal touch to it so found a tie dye vinyl decal on etsy.

Sorry I didn't see this when you posted it Doug. As Kam has posted, mine is an '89, but it's the same as a '91. _________________ Tim Potts

As previously mentioned, the '88-'91 Vanagons all use the same grille and emblem. So, yes, the Jetta IV emblem should fit if your van still has its original square-light grille (see previous posts with pics). If wanting an OEM emblem, yes, you need the larger version offered by the van vendors. _________________ ~Kamz

Took the plunge on the NB emblem idea.
Mission successful but a little torn if I want this permanently. I can't decide if my brain is saying it doesn't belong, or if I'm just not use to it. Looking at anything except my tired, crusty, sorta silver emblem for a couple years my have messed with my eyes. Good news is that it's easy to pop something else in if I change my mind.

Yeah, I was noticing mine just yesterday while working around the van. It still looks as good as new. _________________ Tim Potts

Dealer quality emblems are much better and yes twice the cost.
Enjoy. |

By law Chinese built cars must have 80% locally produced parts. These parts are OE VW and not cheap junk but are produced in China by the same companies that make them for German, Brazilian, African or anywhere else production. As normal the parts we are getting are production surplus. Same as always for parts we buy on the open market. _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

Also applied some Meguiar's Ultimate Black (new product and can't get Forever Black around here); not as good as painting the grille, but it worked pretty good. |

No not originally. Just the badges at the bottom of the door. It wasn't until 88-89 that VW put the emblem on the hatch.
If you can still get a replacement hatch from VW you'll have to buy an emblem, because all the replacement hatch have the indent for the emblem. ETKA has an 'ALSO USE' list of parts when replacing the rear hatch on an older Vanagon. You'll also need to replace the seals for the lock cylinder too. _________________ -Jim DiGennaro, Samba lurker, Disc Jockey and LiMBO freak www.LiMBObus.org

Nope; instead, the early models had a "Volkswagen" badge on the back. In '84/'85, the badges changed a bit and included a small VW emblem next to "Volkswagen". _________________ ~Kamz
