Now the floor quarter panels are becoming floor halves. Still just tacked together for now but getting welded soon.

Thanks.

Digged out the one metal pre-49 glove box I made 23 years ago to finally make the other one...

Unfortunately the first had gathered a bit of "patina" during the years in storage as seen here with the now newly made bottom section for the second box...

Both halves ready to be welded on the new box..

Yesterday I finished the second and cleaned up the first!

And confirmed the fitment in the dash.

Really happy with the final pair!

Nice job on the fender and spare tire floor reworks! I had the same job on my 54 a few years back. Once I welded that extension in, I had to reshape the piece, as the stamping was far from where I wanted it. I had a blast working it into its new shape!

Had a surgery in early October so not much happened here for a few weeks. Just some minor work on an idea to replicate the 1947-49 Philips Elomar radio front for covering a Bluetooth speaker behind it.

The prototype I'm replicating was basically a -48 and it had kind of custom side trim and hood trim the fronthood trim was much longer than the factory split trim. So I decided to experiment some with 0,5mm aluminium sheet...

Work on front fenders continued with an attempt to backdate 60's fenders to split fenders. Here testing an edge cut from a donor fender to lower the arch some.

Also welded all unnecessary holes.

Interesting how just a few centimetres lower edge gives a much more fat look on the front fenders!

Some progress the past month. Started fitting the floorpanels. Not yet welding them though.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Also started working on the front fenders and when I paintstripped the first I found some unexpected extra work. This used pair was bought as a good undamaged set...

Oh well, the fender was otherwise basically rustfree so I just grabbed my hammer and dolly....

Also rolled the car out to better start eyeballing the louvers on the rearlid from a distance. This is now how the louvers will finally sit.

Now this pre-49 backdate panel is ready for paint. Yes, I can paint it already if I want as it is a removable panel just for the correct look. Behind it is still the original -52 id.

Soon going to weld the sparewheel locking bracket and the inspection covers to this panel. Yes, weld. This whole panel will be removable. But it's there to backdate the -52 into a -48... Wink

Now the pre-49 panel is finished! Will give the trunk area a more genuine look.
The overall look of the car is supposed to look like a late -48, even though it's built from a early -52.

Started making a pre-49 style coverplate for the sparewheel well from scratch too. Car is a -52 by ID so the original must be there for MOT but nothing say it can be covered with pre-49 style removable panel.... Wink
