I just finished permanently splicing my harness to the plug GoWesty provides. It's a really clean setup and I didn't really care for the pcb plug that went into the old original plug. And yes, you can simply unplug the new plug from the instrument panel. Plus it's in a better location for removing and replacing the instrument panel.

Can't you just unplug the harness from the circuit board? |

Went just fine. Thanks for the advice on seating the LEDs. I misread and thought you meant they needed to "click" into the cluster piece, but when I figured out they needed to seat on the circuit board, all went smooth after that. Instructions are good.
Now I need to find the heart to toss my old printed circuit board. I definitely continued to destroy it when I took it off. |
Toss it. Its not repairable. Good to hear you got it going. _________________ '90 Carat w/ '95 phase 1 EJ22 OBD2 conversion |

I contacted one of the major suppliers, even sending a couple of terminals, and the plastic connector. I was informed that they were nowhere to be had. I also asked Kyle who does the harnesses, to no avail. If you do find them, spread the word: that would allow new harnesses in a few places that is impossible today. |
If i had the part number that was on the connector, i could probably find the terminals somewhere. I have been able to get terminals and connectors that people say are no longer made in the past. Even ones that Kyle doesnt have. _________________ '90 Carat w/ '95 phase 1 EJ22 OBD2 conversion |

Just read and follow the included directions and its easy. They really did a good job with this one. I would NOT reccommend permanantly splicing the harness into yours like the end of the directions opt however. That is one thing i dont know why they suggested. They call it "optional" but its a terrible idea...

I have seen the stock plug and the connectors inside cause issues because they are old/damaged. I guess this way you can do away with that plug if it is a problem. |

Also, when the leds are in place correctly, You will hear and feel them SNAP into place. They take a little force to snap into their sockets. _________________ '90 Carat w/ '95 phase 1 EJ22 OBD2 conversion |
