Hmm. Usually gas valves don't like to be turned off with force 'cos it buggars up the soft metal seat and makes it that much harder to shut off next time. This one, however, I figured had been torqued pretty hard and I gave it a bit more but it still lets gas through. No leak though that I can tell. Since all the gas has to be out of the tank to replace the valve anyway, I thought I'd run it dry, remove the valve and see how it's constructed. Maybe there's a needle could be re-seated. _________________ Terry

On my valve I have to crank it HARD clockwise to shut off the propane all the way (and turn it HARD against the stop CCW to prevent propane from leaking out around the valve stem).
Totally freaked me out when I first got it, but it has been totally functional for the last 3+ years like that. |

Thanks Dave. That's more like it.
That fella never saw a word ending in "s" that didn't cry out for an apostrophe. _________________ Terry

My tank valve does not completely shut off the gas. If I shut it off all the way, I still get a small amount through the stove if I turn on a burner. I called GoWesty and was told I had to buy a whole new tank. That doesn't sound reasonable. Can I replace the shutoff alone? _________________ Terry
