This tent came with the my bus when I purchased it from the previous owner. It's a smaller drive away style tent but it's in nice shape. I don't see any labels or markings as to who manufactured it. Does anyone have an idea and does this tent help to identify the camper kit?
EDIT: Looks like this is the White Stag universal side tent that was used by ASI.
The top of the tent has a flap with a metal rod in it that rests in the drip rail and there are three snaps on the tent and bus to close off the bottom skirt.

Anchovy! What a great thread man! I have a small lantern collection and a low light I'm slowly restoring, so much inspiration here thanks for sharing everything! _________________ 1972 Super Beetle owned since 2005

Thanks. This was at the Capistrano VW dealership takeover show on July 13, 2025. They did a big awning display and I was lucky to have a rad spot up front. |

Are you going to do a run on this prototype awning? Looks the part.
Great Bus Great Thread. Thank you for the inspiration. |
Glad to hear that it’s inspiring. This prototype was put together by Alex and Kristine of Starlite Awnings. I gave some input and they are going to incorporate some of those refinements as they move forward. Not sure when they will be available. |

Prototype awning setup. Inspired by the early Westy side tents but with aluminum poles.

That’s a fantastic bus. Really like the vintage camping gear. I have similar stuff. Always preferred low tech camping. Simple and lasts for ages.
I bought the same motorcycle carrier from HF to carry a vintage Vespa. I will probably have to modify it like you did. |
Thanks! It's pretty simple mod to make the HF carrier the right size. I bought some LED lights and will add them to the backside of the carrier and put a 4 pin plug on it since the tail lights are obstructed by the bike.
Here is my trailer with the rack powder coated. Maiden voyage to OCTO.

Had a roof rack made for the trailer. See it at OCTO this weekend.

Wolfsburg West for the seat stand mats. They are a decent fit but the cut lines for the seat rails and seat belt hardware are not in the exact right place. Overall I give them a 7/10 but I don't know of any other options. |

Looks good and great find! Where did you source replacements? I am in the same boat with my 68, the covers have fallen apart. _________________ Mark

It finally came time to change out the original seat stand mats. They were so crunchy that they were chipping apart. On the passenger side I found the original key fob VIN tag. It was under the original stand mat so probably in there from Germany.

New shoes.
Powder coated the wheels and mounted General Grabbers. The first shop that mounted and balanced the wheels used the stick on weights on the inside of rims. The weights hit in the rear on the backing plates. I took it the wheels to an old school shop and they removed the first weights and used clip on weights on the inside lip. All set.
I like the ride quality. I sit about an inch taller now as compared to the Hankook 185 r14's. No rubbing.

Cheap leveling ramps from Harbor Freight. This way you don't wake up with a headache. Although the beers may be the real problem. |
