I just think a bra is an evil thing. More so on a Ghia. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Here I am way back in 1978 with my first car. A 68 convertible.
A couple of years later.
10 years later getting her ready to sell. New paint and other stuff. I became a bus guy.
Now many many years later and VW-less, except for my toys, I live vicariously through thesamba.com _________________ Prosit!

My car has been posted already here and is one of the exemplar shots for Ravenna Green. I have owned it since 1982. Here is a picture of my other passions in life. Those two on the far left and far right have passed on, and other horses have taken their rightful place in the vehicular stables.
Speaking of such, I have also embarked on learning how to drive horse drawn carriages in the last decade and am now working on getting certified as a carriage driving instructor.
I seem to have a thing for transportation.

Hey all. I’ve been a member here for many years. Bought a project Ghia about 10 years ago that was above my paygrade. This fall my wife and I bought a driver and I’m in heaven. I have a thread where I’m posting things I do to it. Nothing that has never been done before. I’m so grateful for the help I’ve been given over the years. I’m hoping that by posting I can give back a bit to the community. I hope to bump into you out on the road. Not literally though!!
Safe travels everyone!!

Hello from Perth, Australia. I’ve finally managed to get a 1968 US delivered coupe. I’m not sure when it was imported to Australia and converted.
Will eventually do a full restoration, but for the next few years will just be tinkering away on fixing a few home bake fixes that have crept in.
Great to find this forum and look forward to meeting any other Ghia owners in Perth. And you still can’t get the smile off my face…..
Cheers,

Welcome Zach. We have and have had a few Antipodeans, even Aussies with a foot in both camps. If you look at the top of the Ghia section you'll see the forum moderators; "sputnick60", Nick comes from Sydney an works in Auckland. Just to make things even better he has a '66 Ghia he's restored and converted to RHD so has trod the path before you. Check it out here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=270985
If you're going to hang about for a while, start your own resto topic. You'll soon get a following from members here who have advice on all the subject of restoration you're likely to meet. _________________ John.

Hey Ghia-Sambanistas,
thats me in 1997 on a roadtrip to Vegas. The ghia still dressed in powerful red.
Now thats me about 25 years later. The ghia is re-dressed after a complete make-over in charming yellow on its maiden voyage.
All the best Max |

The original color is L50F, Regatta Blue. The car was repainted in 1977 an AMC powder blue laquer with blue pearl flames. It was a Hot VWs feature car in the March 1986 issue. |

I've been hanging out in the oval and split bus forums for the last 14 years. Been following this Ghia forum since last August when I acquired this 68 coupe which had belonged to a late friend and laying dormant for decades.
