Check the site classifieds.
Heres an NOS passenger (no lock) 65 handle
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=865608

And this looks like a decent driver side with key. Though I'm not sure it is OEM. Check with the seller.

Hope this helps.

Try to find some in the Classifieds here, and then you can have them redone buy by Gabriels Garage. He redid the ones for my '67 Beetle so that they match my ignition key, and they are great.
The only catch is that he is sometimes hard to get hold off, but he's worth tracking down. Very Happy

I have a 65 bug too. When I installed the repop door handles (from Wolfsburg West) I had to grind on that flapper part of the lock mechanism to make them work. I'm trying to find a picture for you.
The flapper on the stock handle has an angle to it but the reproductions are flat. Just grind the flapper to make it look like the stock flapper.

EDIT:
Ahh, here's the thread that helped me out.

The flapper on the repop handles is too big so you have to grind about 1/8" off of it.

looks like the new owner is stuck with crappy door handles. guess he couldn't find used door handles so selling it. maybe if someone buys it he can post new owners name so we can watch for his "i just bought this 65 for $5500 or so bux and door handles suck" thread.

easssyy its only for sale if someone really wants it, haha I decided to just keep it and first attempt to grind them a bit since they did cost me a bit of money, and if that doesnt work just sell em and buy a set of OG's. Thanks for the tips guys.

Evil or Very Mad the repro locks got me too. one of the damn things was broken when i got it. and non of the tapped screw holes where straight, and the sad thing is i only needed them to last until the 17th when my orginals would be ready from refurbishment. so i took the og handle bodies and swapped out the guts, so i have one side that works correctly and one that can only be locked from the inside. crap ass china made stuff.
