I see type 3 engines and type 1 engines in ghia's, Will a stock type 1 engine fit
in a type 34 ghia engine compartment, just not sure if the engine cover will close. |

you need the type 3 engine tin and fan assembly for it to fit. Putting a T1 cooling system in a type 3 will shorten the life because it won't cool properly, and it's a hack that will affect the value of your car. _________________ 1973 super 2110cc

The engine hatch lid can't be used with a normal stand up fan T-1 engine in ANY type 3 or T-34. I'm not sure IF the rear trunk lid will close with a T-1 engine in a T-34 either, as the rear trunk isn't very tall.
You'd be better off converting the t-1 engine to t-3 cooling configuration, then it'll fit. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

| I guess if you are just moving it around your property and don't mind the hatch removed and the decklid propped up securely (so it doesn't tweak the hinges) then it will work for short drives before it gets hot. |

for that matter, you could leave the fan shroud off all together if it's a quick start, drive for 30 seconds or so, and shut down. Drag racers do it all the time, I've broke in motors with no head tins... _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |
