OK....my circumstances have made me take another look at life. And while I have had some trying days I try to find something "good" thats happening in my life every day. So maybe this can be a sticky? Take a moment and lets others know what good things are happening you today. I will start...
Yesterday my 30 year old son, who is VERY focused on his career in private equity, told me he "went on a date". Yes...I know...its a little thing but I worry about him not having someone to share his life with. He is private with his personal life and I have always respected that so it was nice for him to share.
Secondly, we were in the kitchen this morning and he said "Its such a beautiful day for a ride in the convertible". So I said "It is, maybe I will take a ride". He responded....."I thought we could both go?" Yes! I will take it!!
And third, my son came home from Boston to play basketball in a local league because he knows how much I enjoy watching him play. He can play in several leagues in Boston but he drove 1.5 hours to come home and play in this local league just for me.
Its been a good few days for me.....I am a lucky man. |

I have a cup of great coffee every morning at 0500 with the same woman for the past 40 years, unless Iโm somewhere around the world.
If thatโs all I get until I croak, Iโm good with that. _________________ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐ ๐ ๐ |

I got to spend most of the day in the (new, spacious) garage working on the VW without having to do any of the half dozen things I usually have to do during the course of a day. _________________ โIf you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? 1. Mrs. Cusser returned from a one-day trip to Phoenix; she took a horse down there and her only trouble was she drove over a drag harrow, but AAA was able to jack up her Yukon and remove the drag with no damage to the Yukon.
2. We took a bath with some wine and went out to dinner.
3. My two grown-up daughters, who both got married last year.
4. I'm able to go to Home Depot tomorrow to pick up a gallon of paint so the painter can finish up next week and to pick up a submersible pup and the nearby Harbor Freight without worrying where that $125 will come from.
5. Steelers will not lose this weekend (they have a bye week, but that unfortunately mean they'll be saying goodbye to Mike Tomlin). _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. My life is good today because:
* I got to spend another day with my beautiful wife and 2 of my 3 kids.
* I finally got a shot of cortisone in my shoulder on Thursday (been waiting 2 years to see a certain specialist) and today is the first day in 5 years that the pain abated a bit.
* My oldest son returned safely from a business trip to Dallas-Fort Worth.
* My wife, son, and I took part in a VW cruise today that had about 30 participants. A full mix of Split Window Buses, Bay Window Buses, Vanagons, Bugs, Squarebacks, Things, Buggies, and a couple old Porches.
* My 76 Westy ran flawlessly today.
It was a good day. _________________ *******************************

the birds are singing and the sun is shining - you know how I feel and I'm feeling good
not sure about a submersible pup though cusser - is that like a baby hippopotamus? _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Yesterday there was a car show nearby and I told my wife I was going to see all the cars. Her response -- " You should get another car so you'll have something to this winter". I think I agree, now I just have to find that car! Yes, life is good _________________ "A life of peace and happiness depends on your own gratefulness" |

My life is great becauseโฆ
โI find inspiration and almost everything said above.
โOur kids and their spouses/partners are all happy, healthy, and doing well.
โWe have one grandchild. We love him, treasure him, and hope that there are more.
โ financially life has been better to us than we had ever dreamed. As Cusser noted, we donโt have to worry about where the money is coming from when we go to Home Depot or Harbor freight.
โ there are people like the original poster on this thread, who have an incredible faith, hope, and spirit that I donโt know if I could ever match.
โ I find myself at peace with most everything in life, in my relationships, and even the world.
Thank you for starting this _________________ Larry in OB

Today and every day because of luck, apparently.
I am lucky to have a fairly large and varied group of friends with whom I usually manage to have a good time. Who knows why they let me associate with them?
I am lucky to have a good friend/wife, cohabited 25 years then married 15, didn't want to rush into things but so far so good. As above, who knows why 'up with me she puts'
I am lucky to have survived C twice; again, so far so good.
I am lucky to not be rich but not be destitute.
I am lucky to have been able to own a few VWs Beetles Ghias 412 914 and T2, and have had a well-used 78 Westfalia for many years.
And I am lucky this website exists. Thank you.
I haven't started the Bus since February. Turned the key, 3 revs and vroom.
Life is good. _________________ 1978 Westfalia stock 2.0 FI

I got tickets today to see "moncher" trucks with my 3yo nephew. My brother had his first child at 38 and the little dude is pretty cool. I now have 5 nephews. Four on my wife's side, one of those having lived with us his whole life. He's a good kid and is now in college studying engineering and wrestling for his school. None of them have been interested in cars...until now!!! The 3yo loves that shit! Yaaaay!! Moncher Trucks!!
I do not dig monster trucks, but I'll take it. |
