got the bus in epoxy primer and starting the filler work, put it on and sand it off,it's a skill that I have not mastered, understatement ,finding highs and lows and figuring what's what,I used guide coat, which is really a waste,at this early stage,so what I found helpful is a pencil ,i just lightly mark up the area,a couple of passes with sand paper reveals the lows, quick and easy,I'll save the guide coat for the final stages.

When I was painting I found a tremendous difference in the outcome of the paint jobs in cars that I used a guidecoat versus those in which I did not.

High spots, low spots, runs, and those pesky pinholes.

In my opinion the guidecoat is "must do" step.

Of course I am not a pro in ANY way

yes i will use it when doing the final block.thinking I can get it fairly straight, and smooth out the rough spots ,then spray on some high build ,then do the final block,a coat of sealer and single stage neptune blue.thats the plan ,subject to change.
