Unmolested 66 red square sold in 2011 for $9600 and people were complaining it was a high price. _________________

I can't fault anyone or call them greedy for getting top $$ for their vehicle, nor can I call them cheap for thinking they can find a good deal out there. I don't think type 3's are "regularly" selling for 20K plus but exceptional ones yes.
BAT is the high water mark for most sales IMO
anyways I still think the 73 square on CL in NY is way overpriced

Four lug hubcaps are the most common ones out there. All four lug VW's all used the same one for many years if Im not mistaken? I think the 1966 T3 nipple cap is the only odd one? Dont look in the T3 parts only, there are so many four lug cap ads.

As rare as these cars are, as I own one, for $twenty five thousand US Dollars, I would expect NOS or at least New repro lenses.

disagree. not all type 3's had the right angle wires, early ones didnt. they aren't for 68- like the ad states. These were on my notch. I have an NOS set sitting here that are not right angled

I have to admit, I haven't read all 500 pages of this thread, but...
The glove box latch broke on my '73 Squareback, Smiley.
I put a new one in, it didn't fit right. The spring-loaded angled plastic catch was too long and it wouldn't unlatch when I closed the glove box lid. Then the latch exploded. After three days.
I took it back to my local VW parts store, they gave me a new one. I Dremeled down the plastic latch a bit so that it still latched, but I could open the lid back up. Even so, the metal body of the latch was hitting the metal frame above, and sticking a little, causing resistance when I opened or closed the lid. Then the new latch exploded, after ONE day.
I cut the new latch in half, tapped and screwed the knob side to the lid, and superglued two of those super-strong (neodymium) magnets that you get from Home Desperate to the frame. Works great. Doesn't pop open when driving.
I've read the extensive info on this website about the garbage TRW steering boxes.
I had an experience with a turn signal canceller that I just could not get to work, right out of the box. There was too much friction, it just wouldn't cancel...it was like the molded plastic parts were just too thick. I paid three times the price for an OEM one, and it works just fine. To this day.
What choice do we have? Why do I have to buy a new ignition switch (the electrical part) every two or three years? I would GLADLY pay three times as much to get one that works correctly, and LASTS.
Anyone out there with similar experiences? |

Jep.. sadly this it the reality with aftermarket rubbish, had the same with inner and outer rocker panels.. holes were not aligning with the chassis and outer needed that much cutting and welding that in the end it would have been better to just make my own.. |
