They really messed the rear vents up though didn't they! I'd be tempted to paint them on.
The scale and detail is pretty impressive though! _________________ Fender Bug |

After seeing these (and other) videos I decided to buy one. I am super-impressed with the detail. At this stage in my life I know I'll never own another split, so I can console myself with this very well-made model.

I purchased both the kubel, and sedan, very impressed by the detail of both vehicles, a few issues I have are, 1. batteries are very limited with usage.
2. Instructions very difficult to comprehend 3. Electrical connections need improvement. 4. I can’t find any support- customer service, replacement
Batteries etc.

Where did you purchase? I got my Kommanderwagen from FairRC.Had a problem with the battery 3 prong male plug that connects to transmitter. The tamiya style plug(includes switch) is hot glued to the fenderwell under the hood. This makes it difficult to plug in the battery lead from behind, as the switch button is facing forward. But the customer service was stellar, I recieved a replacement transmitter assembly for free.
Since there are more similarities than differences between the Kommanderwagen and the colored Split, I gotta know, are the drive gears and 4 wheel drive all the same?
Regarding the directions, typical translation failures and lack of clarity.
For many years I've wondered why Chinese manufacturers don't hire native English speakers to proofread and correct that gibberish, it would be so easy. _________________ "A life of peace and happiness depends on your own gratefulness" |

as a former university trained translator: we do not work for free. Chances are a native english speaker with sufficient chinese language skills would make more than the people who put the models together.
I work for a japanese company, and japanglish is a daily source of entertainment/frustration for me.
Still good english instructions go a long way. i know, cause i sometimes end up writing them. and i do not speak japanese.... _________________ regards

As nice as these are I think they're a little over priced. _________________ Fender Bug |

I got one for my birthday, but couldn't leave it stock. Painted inside and out, lowered, and added a 356 engine. I also accidentally put the rear bumper back on upside down (now rectified).

The RocHobby site has really good specials right now. Both the Kubelwagen and the Type 82e are 100 USD each.
https://www.rochobbies.com/
They also have lots of spare parts.
Another place for spare parts is
https://www.fmshobby.com/collections/rochobby-1-12...amp;page=2
They have even more stuff than the official site.
I bought the Type 82e direct from Roc Hobby, but sadly the courier company here in Australia lost it. Still working with the supplier to rectify. I ended up getting the civilian version instead from another vendor. It will undergo some changes later. Because it has all the nice chrome parts on it, I decided I will turn it into a VW38 on Kubelwagen chassis, IIIA-34035. I may even get a correct size figure and turn it into Herbert Kaes. Nice to have a driver at the wheel while the car is in motion.

On the strength of the above recommendation, I went on to their website, and bought a Kubel, or so I thought. I wrote to them and said that I realise that there would be extra cost to send to the UK, although it accepted a UK adddess, and could they let me know what the cost difference was. So far I've not received anything, or heard anything back from them, or any of the usual e-mail invoices etc, and how and when it is to be dispatched. I'll now have to chase up Visa to get my money returned it seems, if that hasn't already been done. What a let down!
I've just tried to send them a message to ask what is going on, using their web-site Contact messaging section, and always get the reply:
There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.
Are they still in business? |

@undis and @Martin Southwell
I thought $99 was too good to be true so I went to the Scamadvisor website and the "trust score" rating for the rochobbies.com website was 17/100. Saying that the shipping company lost or accidently damaged the package is a common delay tactic. I'd go through your credit card company to try to recover your money. |

Thanks for that heads up. I only ordered because of the details Undis provided above, as he seems to be a font of knowledge. The legal situation here in the UK is that items under £100 ($US 134) aren't covered by legislation, and you have to try and get your money back via your Visa people. No doubt another challenge lies ahead! |
