Adding a few more pics. I was reminded of my faux pas in not finishing my posts.
BTW, Xevin and I have been chatting in the background regarding, My hijacking his thread!
Saturday morning, I awoke with a well deserved hangover. The last time I saw on a clock the night before was 12:43am.
It was a rather strange day.
I texted Xevin to see how he was feeling. He promptly informed me that he would be heading out for camp within the hour.
I did a quick calculation on his travel time to camp and figured he'd arrive somewhere around 1:30pm.
Around 2pm I heard the call, "Get that Fucking Eurovan out of my campsite!"
Xevin had arrived.
What I didn't know was, Xevin had stopped to murder a Barbie Doll along the way. I guess the pencil and Bic pen was laid out to fool any forensic investigation.
While we were waiting for his arrival, one of my camp companions converted his catamaran from a rowing machine to a sail boat. It's a pretty cool water craft to have along on a camping trip to a lake.
As the day wore on that little sail boat was blown off the beach and sailed away on it's own accord.
Luckily, the sail boat made a hard left turn and headed itself back to the campsite. The fellas ran after it and retrieved it. Then sailed it back to the beach. The sail was lowered and the thing stayed in place until Sunday morning.
The sadness of the day came when one of our fellow campers informed us he had to head home a day early. He had a very young child that was taken to the hospital. I'll leave that info as vague as it appears.
The balance of the day/evening was tame and we enjoyed each others company around a very hot fire and a couple shots of fantastic whiskey.
I did manage to get my fingers on a terrific Macanudo cigar. That was delicious.
There is one more installment to this thread from me. But, Xevin needs to add his part of the story first. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Sounds like a great trip!
I read the "shots of whiskey" and feel that I might just be able to fit into this debauchery. I've tried drinking all kinds of whiskey over the years but have never been able to acquire the taste to sip it unless I'm many beers in and then I can't enjoy the flavour but it does lead to some interesting conversations.

To be honest, it was actually sipping whiskey. I really don't like diluting my liquor for a smoother drink. I enjoy the smoky flavor over the pallet as I drink.
Rot gut whiskey sux. I prefer, second shelf or if I can afford it, top shelf whiskey.
Otherwise I make my own.

Fine whiskey, imported cigars, questionable friends, and a deconstructed doll — all signs of a great camping experience or perhaps elements of a dark backwoods murder mystery… _________________ “Most everyone’s mad here. So what I haven’t shared is this camp has been put on by people in the Radio broadcasting business for 50 years. We actually DJ and take turns broadcasting radio shows. We have access to do this
One of the OG campers hauls a trailer filled with former reference quality gear when radio stations upgrade. Its fun.
This is Q on the board. All different genres of music gets broadcasted.

The radio station was one of the highlights of the weekend.
I damn near drained my starter battery listening to the radio all weekend.
It was a sad time on the outbound leg of the trip when the radio station faded away to static and the music went silent. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I thought the 1st rule of Trout Camp is you don’t talk about Trout Camp. |
Some rules are meant to be broken.
So, we awoke Sunday morning and began slowly packing for the outbound leg of the journey.
I was moving particularly slow but, quickly caught up as I don't need to fold up my awning like some of the other guys needed to. Fiamma for the win!
We said our good byes and hit the trail out of camp.
One of my camp companions was having difficulty with his clutch in his 67 Westy. The early goal was to at least make it to Warm Springs, if things were working well, we'd press on toward home.
The four of us stopped at the Shell station in Warm Springs to fill fuel tanks as needed and check on the ailing Westy. We also got to listen to Xevin bitch about Shell fuel quality. Lol!
The report was the Westy was working pretty well and we should be able to make it home.
Xevin was leading I was bringing up the rear with the Westy sandwiched between us. Xevin stated he "could keep a better eye on the Westy from the lead." Yea right!
Well one mile out of Warm Springs, the Westy slowed and pulled off the hiway at the entrance to a semitary. It was kind of an appropriate spot to stop as the Westy refused to move another mile forward up the steep hiway grade we were ascending.
Xevin was out of sight.
I sent him a text letting him know what was up. Then we returned to the Shell station and called for a tow truck to get the Westy back home.
I told my companion that I'd wait with him until a truck was secured and on the way to pick him up.
Xevin had called back and was told to continue on home as I was there to help if needed.
AAA dispatched a tow truck from a location 3 hours away but, was on the way.
I bid my traveling companion farewell and headed home.
The wind in the plains north of Warm Springs was terrible. I was getting blown all over the hiway and even for an EV, it was slow going.
Crossing over Mt Hood, I encountered falling snow. Good times!
The autopsy on the Westy revealed that the clutch pressure plate had failed. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I was asked if I left my friends behind during a breakdown. The answer is yes and no.
67rustavenger has the story askew.
I saw the 67 bus pull over. It took me a mile climbing a two lane highway until I could pull over. I then descended back down to meet up with them. I had to pass them in order to turn back around and meet them. I pulled off to text Xatie I’d be in Warm Springs for a few hours waiting on a tow with the 67.
But when I went to meet 67 bus and 67rustavenger. THEY WERE GONE!!!
I assumed all was good and tried to catch up with them along the route home. About 20 miles later my phone lights up (had no cell service for miles). It’s a text from 67rustavenger stating they went back south to the gas station.
I pulled over and phoned my buddy in the 67, he convinced me to keep going and get home as he was with 67rustavenger and nothing more I could do.
My bro got home hours later.
Toast
It was a great trip
