I'm not sure what this means, one of the numbers above is incorrect?
Maybe post the correct information here in your text - That way you can still see if the images show up elsewhere but the actual dimensions are here for people to reference. _________________ How to Post Photos

No signs, but original dimension sheets from the 1950s. These were available from the VW advertising department for those who wanted to make their own signs or facade decorations.

These were also available in a VW dealer issued brochure called "VW Standards for External Marketing".

Nice get. Not a lot of traffic on this thread lately but I know of many signs that have changed hands in the last year or so. Pricing seems to have gone up as well (like everything). _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Watched that on shopgoodwill.com, and should have set my high bid higher. Glad to see it went to someone who appreciates it. |

Thanks Hoff, I was definitely willing to go way higher than it went but was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately they didn't do a good job shipping it and some of the porcelain on the corners was chipped in shipping I decided not to complain too much as it's perfect for me and my needs. _________________ PM ME TO ADD YOUR '67 TO THE '67 BUG REGISTRY!!!!

Agreed. There are some good deals on there, if you watch. I was stunned when the sign showed up. Sorry to hear about the shipping, it's hit or miss. |

I don't like to see reddish rust on signs. It makes me suspicious of the aging. Thank you for pointing out that they are repos. I am considering using paint thickness meters to start documenting known old vs. something I am examining. China and India are getting good at faking signs.

Wanted to post these for awareness. These were for sale recently (the guy had three of them) and were being sold as reproductions (and priced accordingly):
These use an original makers mark but were definitely made much later (probably in the 80's/90's). Either way, cool looking reproduction sign. |

Orange rust is definitely a clue. I know of at least two of the old sign makers that are back in business and will make any sign you want so you need to be careful. I really wish you could say the new ones use a new makers mark but as you can see in this sign, they used an original makers mark so that's not a guarantee any more. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

I've never seen another Boos & Hahn sign so I figured I'd post this one here.

Cool find! I've seen that makers mark on lots of non-vw signs but this is the first vw.
Here it is on a non-vw sign:
Here is an NOS VW sign made by Boos Hahn with the corresponding sticker on the back:
This VW sign has the same font style as yours and I think came out of Canada:

Srfndoc, Thanks for the response. I knew that they did a lot of advertising signs back in the 50s and they go all the way back to the teens so I was confident that the sign was legit. It was just a matter of making sure it arrived here safely from Hungary.
Here is a photo of the sign after I took some Bar Keepers Friend to remove the stubborn grease stains.

That cleaned up well. I've had many signs shipped over and its always nerve wracking. Fedex seems to be the best for stuff coming from Europe with the local post delivery services a total crap shoot. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Hello, I bought an old enamel sign from an antique dealer. He claimed that it was from the States and from around 1960. Unfortunately, I can't find anything about this sign and am now a bit suspicious. Has anyone ever seen a sign like this with this type of font? The letter C looks very modern, doesn't it?!? Or?!

Based on the condition and the shape/size of the sign I would say its a reproduction. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches

Due to the size and the incorrect font used, I would say it is a reproduction. _________________ ( ⫏ ⫐ )

More fake VW dealer signs popping up on eBay. Pretty easy to identify if you know what to look for but buyer beware.
This ad was from a seller with 100's of other "vintage" signs so I'm guessing he's pushing a lot of fake signs (not just VW). _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |
