You say you bought it straight from the junk yard? so Lind just got a hell of a finders fee?

I believe Lind bought the bus and then flipped it to Craig without touching it/picking it up.

It's not like paint is destroying a bus. I could totally see the uproar if they were hacking glass tops into them or making crazy ass dune buggys with them but paint.....come on, get over it.

After all is said and done, when someone decides to sell a bus(which goes on here every day) the new owner can do what ever the hell they want to it. Im sure it isnt going to stop any of you big time bus finders/sellers/flippers to stop selling busses.
X2 Mike. Damn thing needed paint anyway. Besides the Paficifo logos will be someone elses patina'd or cool logo'd bus in 40 more years...

Interesting bitch/thread. I am sorry to see the OG paint buses used for this ad campaign, but I know that several of the other buses used for this promotion were far from original, or straight, or unrusted, right Craig?

Steve's panel was very cool as it was, but it probably needed to be repainted to be really nice, or at least mostly repainted and then alot of sanding to blend it in.

I have an OG paint 65 Riviera that may be on the market soon. I've had it for several years. I will not knowingly sell it to someone who plans to "restore" it and paint it purple (or whatever some asshole would do). I would like to think I can choose the next owner.

I used to drink Pacifico occasionally, but it is way too pricey for that mexican pisswater now. I will stick to northwest beers. I guess it could be considered a boycott of Pacifico, but for different reasons.

complete bullshit.

craig bought that bus out of my driveway after I spent half a day digging it out of the junkyard, pulling stuck brake drums off of it and putting it back on wheels and towing it home. I also spent several days cleaning it and adding missing parts to it before I sold it. it took me over six months and a few trips to the junkyard to get the owner to sell it to me. I would never have sold it to anyone that I believed would repaint it.

this is how it looked when I sold it:

anyone who knows me and how I deal with my parts knows better than to make a ridiculous statement like that. and you should certainly know better, as I have went out of my way to get you parts you needed for your projects on multiple occasions.

wow to read this crap blows me away im not a forum guy but couldnt help myself today , yes I bought your bus Lind , I really didnt care if the bus came from mars I wanted it and bought it , were my intentions to sell it right away No!! .who cares !! I went to the artists house who painted it , Yes I was a little sad but at that point it was far out of my hands , they showed me pics of what the bus would look like and the reason for the original paint was they were only going to put simple logos on it and it was going to be blue and white still ..and from what I saw it seemed like a cool thing to be involved in , And they hired me to make sure all there buses were road ready ,which was 15 buses in two weeks and it was alot of work ..we own these buses because we love them , we drag them out of the woods because it feels good to get a new one ,we all do the same thing so get over it already that paint will strip off those o.g buses like nothing ,they didnt even sand them , so as far i as i see it they are a temp logo..there is lots of O.G paint under there and someone will buy them when there marketing deal is over..

The Bosie Wholesale bus should have been stripped to OG paint. Just think about the bus freak years ago who sold the bus to Bosie Wholesale and boycotted them and told all his friends to also because they took and OG paint, DD , pressed bumper bus and fucked it up with orange paint and stupid LOGO's.

Fast forward to current times; The Bosie Wholesale bus is bad ass and should never be brought back to OG paint, it has real logos from years ago and a cool orange paint job/

20 years from now you'd be ripped a new asshole by the bus freak if you even thought about removing the vintage Pacifco painted/logo bus

Shit what ever happened to all the Bimbo Bread buses in Mexico

actually i only really can think of one time and you had treated me the way i wanted to be treated because i made the offer to you to get the parts i needed and it was a fair deal for the both of us ONLY because i got what i wanted and so did you...ridiculous?not really...i am not taking stabs at you lind i think the fact you live on here helping answersing questions is good for people.if you want to talk about ridiculous we should maybe mention the coment you wrote about people who lower buses made in the obr years ago...i still have not forgot what you wrote and i dont think many others that read it have either. dont be sensitive lind i am only making a point.some people in this culture take the cars to a whole different level actually boycotting a company because they didnt have any respect for a old 200 bus.that they probably feel that they overpaid for.they dont see the bus that valuable and they really arent going to be hurt if you decide to take your vues to the forums...btw i only drink coors light and occasionally drink newcastle so it doesnt matter to me at all what they do or dont due.these buses dont have feelings.just remember that...

At least they're buses that are on the road again. Keep your eye on them until Pacifico or whoever is using them for promotion is done with them.

He said an aritist was applying the paint, so I bet it's just overpaint.

Usually they end up just sitting in someone's driveway or back lot with no clue what they are worth to a VW head.

I've seen plenty of buses get bought up by business owners, get their logos painted on them, then they end up broken and sitting in their yard...as another potential find.

perhaps, ralph, if you had ever owned a nice original paint bus, you would understand. to you, buses seem like they are a utility to hack up. to me, they are an art form.

I really don't care all that much what happens to the majority of buses out there because they have already been molested long ago or are no longer in good condition. case in point, the boise bus. if that bus had been repainted anything other than orange, yellow or purple, I would own the bus right now. I couldn't stand to own a car in any of those colors, and I couldn't bear to strip down the repaint.

the '66 bus that I sold was a very nice original paint bus with no rust.

BTW.....dumb thread Rolling Eyes Once a car leaves your possession, it's destiny is out of your hands. We are only custodians of these vehicles, some of us perserve or restore them for the next generation, while others drive or use (logo'd beer promotion) the vehicles as intended by the original design.

This forum is strange. There is no need for people to be dicks to each other. They're just old cars. It's not worth personally attacking someone over a simple preference.

i would love to have a pacifico logo'd bus! it is my standby beer when i can't find Stone's Arragant Bastard. I wish their Old Gaurdian was not seasonal, but then again that add's to its specialty.

If Stone Brewery offered to help with the restoration of my bus, I would proudly sport their logo on my bus! I would drive that thing all around all the time. (no OG paint, PO bondo'd and primered the thing before i bought it.)

were not all logo buses painted over OG paint?

I see Lind's point, it could be compared to cut wheel wells, or eyelids, or scoops. But once a bus is out of our hands, we no longer control it's destiny.
