That's not a narrow road - wait until you drive in Cornwall!

We've just done two weeks in a hired van (Fiat Ducato) which was over seven foot wide. The roads were often the very same width, with banks or hedges on either side going up eight foot or more. Just the occasional passing place, and for half the time the cloud base was at 0ft. So very poor visibility as well...

Great fun!

Just giving this thread and update on my plans:

April/May of 2025 I'm shipping be Seabridge.de from Baltimore to Liverpool. The shipping company hooks you up with the necessary insurance.

I'm thinking a bit of England and Ireland, then ferry to Scotland, then ferry to Oslo. All over Scandinavia, then Germany, Poland, etc. Rick Steves is making me consider Iceland, but it's pricey (you only live once).

I joined the Facebook groups for:
- Volkswagen T3/Vanagon International Road Trips

- T3 Owners in UK https://www.facebook.com/groups/1511624732283289/
- T25/T3 Club Ireland https://www.facebook.com/groups/185881791613962/
- T3s in Denmark https://www.facebook.com/groups/6449772831/
- T3 Divisions in Norway & Sweden
(https://www.facebook.com/groups/1805319552863144/)

I'm sure there are more, buy it gives me a base of friends Smile

The van is ready!

I scheduled a 28 April surrender of my baby to Seabridge in Baltimore, for shipment to Antwerp.
Per Seabridge: "A motorhome/camper can be shipped incl. camping equipment and clothes, but it must look apparently empty. That means everything has to be neatly stowed in closets and storage areas." So load planning is critical.

I have no plans after receiving the van in Europe (which way to go) but will be over there for 3-6 months, so time is not critical. One or two nights in a B&B will be likely while I get my feet on the ground (gasoline, propane, water, food).

I have already paid for tickets to the T3 Bus Meet in England (https://t3busmeet.com/) and hope to attend the Balkan Bus Meet in Romania.

Looking forward to a new adventure!

Do Iceland. Seriously. I've been literally all over the world and Iceland is one of the few places I've gone back to multiple times. Its a whole different world there, and its pure magic. Yeah, its expensive, but not massively. Its worth it.

Iceland is cool… Cool

Seriously though, it’s also on my go-again list, but I’m just a Scandinavian American
living in a temperate zone, always longing for good (i.e. cold, snowy) weather…

I had to move the date back, due to unforeseen circumstances.
I am shipping out of Baltimore on 14 May and the van will arrive 5 June in Antwerp.

I hope to get to the Balkan Bus Meet in Romania in July https://balkanbusmeeting.com/

I have tickets to the T3 Bus Meet in England in August
https://t3busmeet.com/

and a reservation on the car ferry/cruise ship between Denmark and Iceland in late august https://www.smyril-line.com/iceland/ferry-crossings

beyond that, I will wander and see as much as I can see . . . Very Happy

Anyone else coming over?

Iceland is well worth the cost and time, we did Iceland 7 years ago in a rental camper van, it was amazing, Careful on the single lane bridges but otherwise very straight forward and the scenery is jaw dropping. Drive the ring road and let it happen.

I will be leaving out of Amsterdam July 1 and driving thru Poland to the northern portion of Slovakia then over to Prague by July 15 or so to fly home until September.

If our paths cross....

The adventure begins: following a two-week drive from Washington to Maryland, I surrendered my van at the Port of Baltimore. The ship leaves 20 May and arrives in Amsterdam on or about 5 June. Three weeks without my baby!

Hi Jim!
I'll be putting the pictures and narrative up on my Facebook page (so much easier). I'll occasionally post updates here and ultimately the Google maps with all my pins.

I'll try to remember to look at Facebook - I normally avoid it. Wink We hope to be travelling in Scotland sometime this September/October in our recently purchased UK van (not a T25 but a 30-year-old Peugeot). If you're still over that side of the pond we might meet up yet again!

It would be great to see you both. The only reason I have a Facebook page is my daughters are posting pictures of my grandchildren.
