How long do orders typical stay in processing?

I placed an order on Saturday June 28th. I didn't expect anything to change until Monday at the earliest. I called them on the phone on Tuesday, they confirmed the order had shipped out on Monday, she didn't have a tracking number for me at the time. This is now Thursday, I'm in Montana they are in Washington, I could have driven and picked the part up by now. The website still says processing, I would like a tracking number or an idea if it will arrive before the holiday weekend. I spent the extra $8 for 2 to 4 day shipping, which should place it in my hands at the latest today. I understand it's not guaranteed 2 to 4 days, especially for people on East Coast, but I'm only 9 hours away.

Order#: 338776

33% of my order was shipping costs. Yes, I know we are spoiled with free Amazon shipping, but I have an expectation that in stock orders should be processed, shipped and updated in 1 business day.

Thanks,
Brad

Update: Either I misunderstood or the individual I spoke with on Tuesday was mistaken. The package did not ship out on Monday as they said. I called today to find out where my package was. I was correctly told today, that it is in Denver CO. Geography Lesson.

Google Driving Directions:
Langley, BC, V1M-3B1 to Missoula, MT 59801 9 hours 28 minutes

Current Package Path of Travel:
Langley, BC, V1M-3B1 to Clevland Ohio, to Denver, Co, to Missoula, MT 69 hours of driving.

I ordered from CIP1.com because they where the geographically closest to me, and offered 2 day shipping at a reasonable price. If they where more transparent about their shipping stating that they use DHL, that items ship from Canada and may not leave the factory for 2 or 3 business days after purchase, I would have bought from someone else.

They got my order this time, but will not order for time critical parts in the future.

Looking forward to deliver and installation.. next week

Brad

Did you call Cip and ask them about this? Usually, they ship the same day you purchase from them. I haven't heard they can take days to ship something out. I live in PHX and usually get my parts in 4-5 days from order on ground shipping.

It would be worth a call and share you un-happiness if they did hold the order for a few days before shipping.

Sounds like you have a complaint for the shipping co.

x1000

it is not cip1 fault that DHL sent it to Denver before to you they have no control to what the shipper does with it

if you order something to be shipped UPS from seattle next day or second day air to Montana it goes thru their home base of Atlanta first Rolling Eyes

Isn't that FedEx?

Similar stuff happens with the post office. A few years ago I shipped something from Vancouver Canada to Bellingham WA, a distance of about 60 miles. The post office shipped the package to San Francisco, then USPS worked it up north. Took a week. This is not a one time fluke, that's the way all packages from western Canada enter the USA.

I have reread their helpful answers section:
http://www2.cip1.com/help_answer.asp?ID=9#29

It lays out in very clear terms how to calculate the arrival date. For an order placed during the weekend, day 1 is the next business day, not including weekends. Also with Friday being an American Holiday, day 4 will be this Monday. So if it does arrive this Monday, it will be within the 2 to 4 business day window I paid to have the item delivered.

I only added to this thread to make other people aware of the experience I had. Once the package arrives I will include the tracking number.

Love these guys! They tend to have more of the items I'm looking for and usually at cheaper prices! I like how their site is laid out and the cross-referencing built into each part page. I also like their selection of German made components. I only found this site about a year ago but they're pretty much my one-stop-shop now for both my VW's.

Their shipping is relatively quick. I try to order Sunday so that they can ship Monday to have it arrive before Friday. So far, it's worked out pretty good.

The only complaint I have is that it would be nice to have parts you've put in your cart clickable. I often times find myself needing to go back to a part to double check fitment or something in the description. This is only a very minor thing.

Ordered some engine and suspension parts that my local ACVW store did not carry.

Placed the order on-line, on the weekend, requesting the economical 7-10 day delivery. Parts arrived at my door today (3rd business day) and very well packaged with lots of packing material to protect the contents.

I've been buying from CIP1 for over 20 years, always top notch service Smile

Cip does not carry a rear tin without heat holes and heat risers cut.

I use the blank one with no holes usually and neatly trim the heat riser reliefs in.

On a similar note I use the blank rear tin usually as well when used with an aftermarket exhaust and heat holes are needed. I have a hole saw I use to relocate the heat hose holes further back and inboard to help the heat hoses clear header pipes better.

not sure if this is the right feedback spot, but here we go.

I must say that I'm now fairly happy with my purchase from CIP1. I originally ordered 4 of their stock looking wheels that take their smoothie line of hub caps. I was disappointed that these were made in China (but hey isn't most of their stuff? Laughing besides, that's why lots of their products are so cheap), as I was thinking they made these in the USA since they are kind of advertised this way, with the whole CIP1 original design / line of wheels mumbo jumbo. Wink

I note you that I didn't choose the wheels as a means of being cheap. I wanted to get some actual vintage smoothie wheels, but I have a disc brake setup so that ruled that out.

Well, everything made it here to Japan alright, with the exception of one of the hubcaps having a slight ding in it. Oh well, I thought. No biggie. I'm painting these wheels and caps flat black.

Well a few weeks later after prepping, and painting my wheels beautifully and having them installed my my local air cooled VW tech, I notice that one of my hubcaps is missing! Damn! Went looking everywhere for it and nothing.

So I bit the bullet and ordered another cap, painted it nicely and sure enough it falls off again, twice after going around the block a little bit.

I then painted it again and put it back on one more time. They say three is a charm. So far, so good. Somehow it is miraculously staying on there.

I eventually emailed and complained to them about my troubles. Even though it was a bit of a pain in the ass all the emailing and waiting, they eventually decided to send me another free wheel, hubcap, and even pick up the shipping to Japan! Wow, now that is generous and what I call customer service.

I'm still pissed though about all the lost time in painting and prepping, just to have it fall off and be scratched to hell and back. it also sucks knowing that i have a defective wheel on my car now that may decide to tell my hubcap to take a hike whenever it pleases. Rolling Eyes not to mention it would also cost me quite a bit to have my new wheel and cap painted and have my tire switcher over to this new wheel. Crying or Very sad

I believe it was a guy named Kris Ingaldson and a lady named Megan Schubert who ended up helping me out. Anyways, they were super nice and very understanding to me, even though I eventually resorted to writing them a pretty hasty and not so nice email.

Not so sure about that Amanda girl though. I would stay clear of her. If there is any problem she can't seem to handle anything very well and isn't very professional or nice in the way she responds. maybe she means well, but something is just a little off or missing, don't know. Smile Wink

Thanks again CIP1 for listening to my complaining and for your service.

LOL.....

CIP1.com "Free Shipping October"
(Free ground shipping on all orders over $99 on EVERY item).

Yet all items, have all of a sudden been increased (some substantially) from the prior month (about equal to the cost of shipping).

I'm sure others/regulars have noticed too, but I just wanted to make this vocal on here and say shame on you CIP!....what BS!

I have done many deals with CIP1 for many years. Throughout they have been more than helpful.

I have dealt with Kris, Jill and yes Amanda and they were very courteous and was able to resolve my problems when I have one. Applause

I like Original Vintage parts but if I do have to buy replacement maintenance parts CIP1 will be one of the companies that I am confident with.
For international shipping I consider them to be one of the best.
Thank you CIP1.

Ordered a “Genuine VDO” fuel sending unit from CIP1 to replace a no-name version that crapped out on me after about 6 months. Received my CIP1 shipment yesterday and it was another cheapie no-name unit. I was very disappointed but thought I’d throw it in the car anyway and see if would last a little longer rather than deal with returning it. This really bothered me so this morning I decided to call CIP1 and was quickly routed to Bill. Bill said he would check inventory to see if they had the correct VDO units in stock and get back to me. He called back, said they had a few VDO units, explained that the no-names came from their supplier and apologized for the mix-up, said he would send the correct one out today, and to not worry about returning the other unit. Now that’s good service! Thanks, Bill!

Having searched in vain for OEM style trunk liner for my 74 Standard Beetle, I decided to give cip1 a try.

They advertised a liner cut from an original pattern and from original material. I read the bad reviews but figured it was worth a try....wrong.

The liner that was shipped was made of some gray uncoated pressed fiber material...no black coating.

Same old story, send it back at my expense, expect a refund on 3-4 weeks. Lesson learned.

Anyone know where I can get a decent trunk liner ?? that at least looks stock, WCM and Wolfsburg seem to have all styles available except for the later Beetles.

Clara on here makes lots of door panels, roof panels, etc, for the type 2 crowd and is also in the PNW. You might pm her to see if she could make you one for your bug. Worth a shot.

Received a parts order a while ago from Cip1. Months later, I installed the Pertronix distributor, only to have the vacuum can blow the diaphragm out within two weeks. Contacted Cip1 without a receipt, and they had Pertronix drop ship me a new vacuum can, no hassles.

Excellent service from Cip1 and Pertronix.

CIP1 is great. I live in NC and getting parts over here from the west where they all seem to come from is a huge pain in the wallet!. CIP1 currently offers free shipping on orders over $100. I love ACN and John's customer service is decadent but the shipping just kills me! There are so many items I can order from CB, ACN, and others and the shipping cost comes to like 50% of the order amount! That's a non value-added cost.

CIP1 does seem to carry a LOT of EMPI stuff, so if you don't like that brand then pick through it carefully. Their cranks and stuff are reasonably priced, I got one in my 1791 right now purring away. Never had any other issues. Would definitely recommend.

Like others here I order from CIP1 because of geographical location. I'm on the West coast....They're on the West coast..... and then they ship my parts from Canada!!!!!

I'm like WTF? So I look into the two locations and come to find out the CIP1 and CIP1ca. are only 25 miles apart just across the border from each other.

I guess I shouldn't complain about free shipping but I ordered on a Sunday yet they didn't bother to process my order until Wednesday. Looks like my stuff won't be here until next Monday.

They're excuse..... We're busy because of the sale!
