not unique and even less oddball, I've just cleaned and checked for wear out this 034
then I tested it on my 181 and works like a charm, I only post here because of the different looking vacuum canister

That appears to be an aftermarket vacuum canister as it lacks a Bosch logo on the center of the rear facing canister side. The pull arm should have the numbers 579 if it is an original. There were a lot of 034 clones produced so there a lot of non original canisters out there too. _________________ Roads Scholar

That arm number indicates it is probably a Bosch part. That number is not for a canister used by VW. It likely might be ok to use. _________________ Roads Scholar

Your vacuum canister does have the small bend in the nipple. That is usually what you see. I am surprised you have a stamped one and no Bosch logo. Sometimes the Bosch logo is hard to see. It is very small.
527 maps to VW number 056 905 271 A. it was used on a 1.5 Golf or Scirocco. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

I've seen them all. They have different applications. Keep them. They are all useful if you have a bunch of VW.

I am running that 113905205M on my truck with 30P1; has a different timing requirement than a 111905205 dizzy. Found out the hard way when shop set my timing to the 111 spec and it ran terrible. Was good on the gasalyzer, tho! Runs nice with proper timing.
Have a 113905205T on the 70.
So those are handy for 1500 - 1600 motors.
Others might be worth trading to a restorer for a refurb on the ones you keep. That's what i did with my boxes of carbs, pumps and dizzys. A stash is great, but only if you'll need what's in it. The rest is baggage. I did keep some cast-iron ones, tho. _________________ Craig K

131 205 is Bus only 1966-67. It’s sought after
113 T is very common 1969-70 Beetle and Bus
113 M very common 1968 Beetle Bus
178 009 bazillions of them. They would, if place end to end, reach to the moon and back.
173 028 very common 1973-79 Beetle and Thing
113 K very common 1966-67 Beetle and Bus
211 B is a Garbe Lahmeyer distributor for infrequent Beetle, Bus, Type III not rare
VJU4BR8 very common 36 hp Beetle
None of the distributors pictured are Rare Unique or Oddball. _________________ Roads Scholar

That part number is for the vacuum canister only. The actual distributors were used on all three models at the time. The part number for the distributor was on a triangle shaped paper sticker that over time has gone missing.

Ah, Ok. Typically when people ask about them or advertise them they incorrectly use the number on the vacuum canister because it is most prominent. Honestly I’ve never given the points plate part numbers much thought since they are interchangeable. I Will investigate and report back. _________________ Roads Scholar

Also, tasb, are any of the photos I posted that end in 009 the "009" that VW people refer to when they brag about having an 009? |

You have three pics of 009’s. The first is without a vacuum canister. This is THE 009 that is ubiquitous. I would not brag about running one of these. They lack a VW part number just the Bosch and were never factory installed on an engine. The other two are VW# 113 905 205 K’s and should have a vacuum canister on them. Their Bosch part number ends in 009. They were stock on Beetle and Bus 1966-1967. _________________ Roads Scholar

OK using the information from this thread I threw away all the common distributors but I kept one of the Garbe Lahmeyer 211 905 205B.

Also, tasb, I did not toss the Mexico body. I am sending it to you for your collection as you requested. |

Wait, you just tossed them? I forgot to comment above, those centrifugal 009s you depicted, there were two of them, one with JF 4 below the part number and another with Z 42 there. Those were German made 009s, which are generally more desirable than the later ones made in Brazil. (Brazil made ones have JF 4 above the part number) _________________ Andy T.
