One last trick up my sleeve. I have a buddy at work who makes surfboards on the side. He is a composite whiz. Anyway, I took him my steering wheel which had some pretty substantial cracks in it, for him to work his magic. Two weeks later it is done and back in my possession. A little L466 Silver White and it is drying in the sun.

Meanwhile my other buddy, Raymond, has been acquiring parts for me to build a replacement 1200 for the Diamond.

A January 1964 case fresh out of vapor blast, which he will be align boring to .040. Thrust is good. He also has pistons and jugs on hand as well as some heads.

And as luck would have it a coworker brought a March 1964 98% complete engine to work and gave it to me......free! This one will be a donor engine for tins, pushrods, rocker arms, etc.

Nothing new to report, except that it’s been awhile since I drove the Diamond. Took a few seconds to prime the carburetor but she fired right up after that. She drove like a champ after that. The only hiccup was the speedometer quit working about halfway to work. Good thing I have an app for that Laughing
Anyway, one of my coworkers snapped a pic of the Diamond on his way to another hangar.

I’m kinda digging it!

(Edited the picture to show original photo. The color is correct in this one)

13 December 2022...The Diamond is currently filming a movie in Atlanta. Day one on set. So far, she (and I) have been back there 5 times over the months of December through February. It has been a blast. I cannot give any other details than that...sorry.

Ha! That's what you have been up to.

It is deserving that you and your car are extras in a movie.

The car is just beautiful! I'm sure it will blend well with the other cars.
While filming, whatever the movie is.

The proper title is background actors, hahaha. The casting agency corrected me. Mostly just working. 19 more months to go until I retire. I just stumbled on this gig by accident. The pay is decent though. It's a movie due out sometime next year on Apple TV. We'll see if we survive the editors.

I didn’t want anyone to think I don’t care about this car. Far from it. Just to catch you up. Film shooting wrapped up in February 2023 for me. Now the movie title is released and it is scheduled for release in July I think. The title is ‘Fly me to the moon’ it should be in theaters then and on Apple TV shortly after that. It is hard to say if my car and I even made it through the cutting room, but it was still a lot of fun.
I retired from Civil Service on 31 March 2024 so, yay me! 32 years was enough. Now I am settling down to more lucrative ventures, like finishing the 40hp engine as seen a few posts up.

Just need to swap a few pieces from the engine in the car and then run it.
Oh, and I also added a 1968 Westfalia to the corral

Anyway, that’s all for now!

Enjoy retirement and go camping in the Westy!

I'm glad you're keeping the original-style coil bracket, with its enclosed mounting slots in both "ears". The ones on later coils and blue coils that have slots which extend to the edges of each ear shout " '90's aftermarket".

Your intake manifold, especially its smooth and not rust-cratered preheat pipes looks very good. Did you restore it, or find an NOS one?

Actually found a guy on eBay that restores 1200cc intakes. He did a phenomenal job. The one I had that came with this motor was plugged up so bad. I couldn’t get through the carbon in the heat riser.

The engine looks great (as does the whole car), but I'm wondering if that's a 40hp crank pulley. It looks '67 1500 ...

Absolutely, positively a 1200 40hp crank pulley. Marked at 7.5 and 10 degrees BTDC. I did add a notch at TDC for setting valves. There is another one 180 degrees around Smile

Your 40 horse looks great.

Congrats on your retirement.
I dream of the day I can step away from 4am wake ups and hours inside a computer chip fab.

Fly Me to the Moon will be released on July 12, 2024. I'll keep an eye out here for it in theaters. Maybe I'll get lucky and catch a glimpse of your car in one of the scenes.
That split bumper 70 Camaro in the pic above is pretty sweet too. I missed it when you posted the pic a while back.

IF the car makes it past the editors it could be in a night shot for “New York City” traffic shot or in a Kennedy Space Center parking lot. Both scenes were shot in Atlanta. It was fun for sure.

I am excited to say that at 30 minutes and 10 seconds, the Diamond made it past the editors and into the movie Fly Me To The Moon. It is on the right hand side of the movie screen. Super stoked!
