Wow!!! What a discussion
As I said earlier, in this part of the country there aren't many VW's around.
Especially 50's VW's. I have always liked the look of the 50'ss
I made a cash offer and he took it. Will be planning the pickup for Saturday.
Yes, it is a semiphore car. The passenger hole is filled in with bondo. The driver side still holds the original semiphore. (no plastic lens though.)
The car does have the original rear glass and metal frame. Wow somebody said the glass was worth $750.?? Wousers!!!
There are some interesting features I suppose every 54 has. The carpet that covers the heater ducts have an aluminum insert to surround the ducts.Interesting indeed.
Yes it may be an expensive car to redo, but I think the parts are out there somewhere just waiting for the lucky finder. That's what makes it fun.
One time,
I found a 1935 Lycoming supercharged Auburn Engine in a shed.
It looked like a boat anchor...rust everywhere. Many people saw it and said it is junk. It was going to be hauled to the dump.
I sold this engine for $16,000.00 cash to a guy in Illinois.
To many people, obstacles appear impossible but in reality they are not. |

I hope you or someone else try's to fix that thing .......it's crazy because there are people out there that would be willing to save such a beast like an ealry semaphored oval vert, I myself would be one of them but I see it at a different angle as most becuase ........I have alot of parts that could complete that car and a donor 54 hardtop
You see 2 years ago I found this 56 vert http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=309324
(more in my gallery)
That 56 was a running driver tell it was parked in this guys backyard for 12 years and became a bathtub but the car was 100% complete I've been on a slow mission to getting it done. But its getting, there pans redone, rear package tray done, and I got a free oval baja body for a donor for its heater channels and so fourth so its really upto if "yourself"
really wants to fix it and spend the cash when you can
Like Slow low said earlier whats really salvageable on that vert other than the rear view mirror and the rear window and frame the body looks wasted and incomplete except for the doors ......but everything is fixable for $$$$
If anything to Ocelot sell those two pieces and sell the rest of the car to someone and fix the rust and slam it with a 2 liter _________________ **WANTED** ONE 4 1/2 EARLY FUCH |

Ok,
Can somebody tell me what the 1954 Rearveiw mirror and rear glass would sell for?
I went and bought the bug today. I took some parts off the body so they would not run away.
I will work on getting the body out early in the week. I will be keeping the body and pan.
It will be a job to move because of the transmission not being there.
I would appreciate your help.
Somebody asked where I was and how much I paid.
I live in Dublin VA, (the car lives in another town)
However, the amount I paid.... uh, it might have been too much..... |

How much did you pay for it? _________________ 1964 Beetle

Can't tell...
.....until I find out if the rear veiw mirror and window is worth anything. Guess it's a man pride thing.
I mean if I paid over what it's worth ...then you know what that does to a guy that has broadcast it on the net.
Guess I'll have to list them at a crazy high price to find out......

So after all that beep, you're going to part the car out? |
Yeah,
I change my mind a lot. So guess I need a straight jacket....
I think it best to part it out. That's what you wanted wasn't it??
Besides, I like 58's and 59's better.
Have I asked this question yet? What's the rearveiw mirror worth?
Do I have to trade parts for that info?
