This build is fantastic. You can tell just from the photos that this gentleman cleans up his tools and shop as he goes. And sweeps. Hangs things up when not in use... I'm stunned by the attention to detail going on here...phenomenal. Metal work is gorgeous stuff. Bravo sir ! |

Great work & thanks for taking the time to document...
Bookmarked as a reference thread.
Do you know when your bus was built?... or the chassis number?
The reason I ask... you have windshield washer squirters.
The squirters could have been added at any time... but they supposedly did not start until Aug. 3, 1964 (1965 model year).
Do you recall if the holes looked "factory"... or drilled in?

Best is to have your original reworked by Tim at Volksblitz or others. _________________ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ πΊπΈ π π π |

There's never a happy ending when purchasing a part and the word cheapest is used.
X2 on using Volkzbitz for rebuilding an original Solex. I believe he ships international as well. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Yeah i know
the carb has already been rebuilt several times.. and there is again also to much shaft play. in my opinion it's not worth rebuilding
The chinese one, its 1/4 of the price of a new one (good quality) here in
belgium.
il find out soon enough how it performs and what the build quality is. |

The only real "wear" on a carb is the throttle shaft and it's bushings and the linkage. Both can be easily replaced. Tim's work is first class. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

So here we have my new AliXpress EMPI 34 PICT-3 carbu
the build quality looks very good in my opinion.
no problems with the fitment and fired right up
choke needed a bid of adjustment great idle now and good response.
Carbu stays dry no sweating, so all good atm
will see how he performs in the bus and how long he holds up |

| You can better put that gasoline filter underneath your bus instead of above the engine. Many VWs have been burnt down because of this location. |

This song seems appropriate if you substituted " Turning Chinese" for "Turning Japanese" in regards to your engine!
Come on man! That was a German built engine and its parts back in the day. You're in Europe! You and your bus need to represent the EU my friend. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

So you think by living in the EU you get more original
and german quality parts?
Most of the vw classic parts shops are selling cheap replica parts,
and where do you think al those parts are made.. China
the only difference is when you buy it on aliexpress, or a local shop here in the EU they sell it for the double!
Original parts are rare, and overpriced even here in the EU
i have bin to the United states, and would rather live there for old vw parts than here in the EU, wolfsburg west 👌🏼
people ask also more reasonable prices in the usa 😁 And lots of performence parts. that's my opinion on my experience there |

x 2!
What is true for bus market prices between Us and EU, is true for spares as well. Totally crazy EU prices...
(Well, not really crazy, just following the equation of demand Vs availability.)
This is why we bought our bus in the UK. The pound dropped from 1.45 to 1.15 EUR in one year. Saving 25% this way is hard to beat and easily covers the expenses to fly there and drive the car back home. And most important, no import taxes until UK have not officially left the EU. _________________ '73 Beach Buggy
