That is looking good!
It looks like your doors are from a '65 or newer Bug as the windows are larger than the originals. Since you don't have a quarter window to line up with that isn't a problem for you. _________________

VW recommended boot seam at 10:00 placement on left side of car, 2:00 on right side of car.
One benefit is lessened chance for fluid leaks at seams when car is parked.

I think you have that backwards... The axles move up and forward (pulled forward by the spring plate) as the suspension moves up.
I've always installed the left side at 2pm when facing it to install the boot, and the right side at 10am when facing it to install the boot. It maximizes the flat bending of the seam in suspension compression while still keeping it up hill so any oil that gets between the halves is being encouraged by gravity to drop back into the transaxle. I've installed many stock style split boots this way without any sealant and without any leaks. _________________
