Has anyone used those headlights that have a small driving light in them?

I am assuming you are talking about H4 headlights with the city light in them?
If yes, they are not driving lights. They are parking lights. With them on and then you turn on the low beams, the city lights disappear. They are still on but are over-whelmed.
If no, then I have no clue as to what you are talking about
Driving lights, by their definition, are supplemental lights that are as bright or more as fog lights. But they throw a wide ange beam of light. Fog lights throw a horizontal beam across the road, as low as possible.
Just about all of the H4 headlights out there for a 7" round headlight replacement are "legal for off-road use only". They are not DOT approved and do not have aiming pads on them. |

Dan's a good friend of mine, Ive bought a number of items from him before and can assure you the service is prompt, and he will answer any questions you have about these or any other lights. |

Hella makes H-4 replacements that are DOT approved too. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Brow...06/c-10102
Not plugging JC Whitless- just a link to show them. I've got them on my bus now and had them on my Toyota Tacoma (Performance Products sells them too). _________________ '78 Westy

In practice, however, H-4s work just fine.
Here in California, I have installed H-4s on all my cars over the years. I even had them on a Dodge Dart! I never get "flashed" by oncoming motorists, either.
They are a big improvement, but honestly, the stock lighting on the new Infinitis and Lexus' are more retina-searing than H-4s.
By the way, there is a good price on some perfectly good Indian-manufactured H-4s from Bus Depot. I installed them on my old Mercedes.

I believe this has been acknowleged by NHTSA that they are too bright for oncoming motorists. I don't know when the light output level/color is going to regulated again. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

That's just the lowbeams. Their hibeams are even worse and I hate that bluish color. Why didn't anyone listen to Polaroid at the time... _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

Sheesh, no kidding. We live out here on the flanks of Mt. Hood, and those bluish headlights coming at you on high beams coming up a hill (and they're so slow at clicking down to low beams...) are truly blinding. Of course all those trucks that are "lifted" don't help much either. Although it's a bit better in the bus than my older low to the ground Volvo - definitely deer in the headlights time. _________________ Xargaret
