NO price is better than "make offer."
You list something for sale, put a dang price on it already. If you don't know what it's worth start high and lower the price until you get a few bites.
These people are the equivalent of the guy that sets out "bait" at shows for a stupid price that they know nobody will pay, just to get some eyes on the rest of the junk they want to unload.

Meh I feel like that’s the reason most of the time. Some people just want to pimp what they have and not really let it go. Make offer is like, “I’m not really letting my NOS (insert stupid part) go, I just want to you know I have it.
A lot of the mangled/used/nos hubcaps listed on this site are a perfect example. |

Yep and as a seller, doing Best Offer or no price is a total waste of your time - You get 90+% people asking for a price.
Or "low balling" you.
Low balling in this case often being the actual value or just a little bit below.

The common denominator here ^ ^ ^ is both are from the same seller. Seems counterproductive to reveal the BaT prices; if I was going to blow that kind of coin on a Bus, I'd pass on those ones just out of spite.
Seems like his excuse for the jack on the Velvet one is, "it needed WAY more work than expected."

The story about this BD DLX is long winding, but interesting, and nicely told.
They speak about how original all of it is and how much efforts spent.
Either these pics don't match the bus, or IRS was available in NZ, 1954....

I don't believe 54 DLX had a light grey tank, regulator case. chromed generator pulley. Do love the Uterus though !

appears to be a stock 1954 'uterus'manifold. it had a one year only (?) stamped and welded pre heat set up for the intake manifold/carb, that was prone to rust out/leaks. Very hard to find today ( because most had to be replaced since)

One of the pics in the ad shows the bus be blasted and the nose skin off. Likely it had some back in the day repairs done that used parts off a later bus. He used correct stuff on the restoration it appears.
Must have big engined it at some point to have gone the IRS route. Must drive like a loaded golf cart with that engine and trans combination.

not worried about the performance, though you are right. It's just funny how they specify a new alltime high asking price, along with a typical broker description of originality and manage to place 2 shots of an IRS conversion along with zinc plated, stepped spring plates. Then showing a stock height pic of bus on bias plies.
Not hating on the seller, but they still got a lot to learn, imho.
