I'm restoring a 57 an it has a late model tranny in it. Is there a list of tranny codes like the engine codes. |

Hello everyone. I just purchased a gearbox that's low milage 44000 miles. well if you can believe it. It has all the 'cast in' numbers but only has one number that's been stamped on which is 3202317. Could anyone help me on any info on this box? I'm guessing its the standard but whats that? I have the chassis number coming for the old car ready for scrap.
Many thanks to all.
I am beginning to build a motor using the Bug Me videos. which thread would be the best to begin annoying the guru's during my joiurney?

I'm guessing here, but...August '60 ('61 model year) based on that number. _________________ Defying conventional wisdom since 1970 |

I am looking to buy a split case transmission. The stamp is 1118012. I was looking at all the numbers on Samba regarding production dates. But having a little trouble understanding how to read them. Any help would be appreciated.

As a data point, I have split-case transaxle #A-1032658 in my late Dec 1956 produced 1957 model year Beetle Kabriolett.
