Supposedly it was Ordered and changed from dealer. Seller has a receipt of the color change from dealer. It looked like it started off as SWR. Receipt does not specify color code. |
Sounds like a huge task for the dealer to strip and repaint a whole sc inside and out. Guess the buyer really liked mango to be paying for all that labour. |
That's just it. It doesn't look like they stripped it. There is SWR showing through at the dogleg, bottom of the door frame, beneath the dash/backside of the nose, treasure chest pillar, overspray on the inside of the doors, top of rear apron. It can't be red factory primer. Obvious respray, IMHO. |

Was the trailer a real bus or is it one of those fiberglass ones? |

Oddly enough the reserve hasn’t been met. Can’t for the life of me understand why…? That being said, someone has dropped some money there and will be tough to recover. Especially with it being so bespoke. |

Hi guys. Is this definitely a ‘66 wiper assembly. ?
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2612618
I need the frame as my bus came with it removed and don’t mind refurbishing the other pieces.
I think this is a ‘65.
Thanks. Dan. |

I would have loved to keep it, but Clara needs some new light fixtures for her workspace and a new door for the garage. The days are getting shorter and colder. It sucks letting hard to find treasure go to pay for practical items, but needs must at the moment. |

Yes, it’s a ‘66 assembly. The ‘65 motor looks mostly like the older type mounted on a metal frame. |

Nice Nevada walkthrough patina bus, comes with title, front seats and super nice cargo floor from what I can see. If that spinning motor is any good it could be a nice first bus drive while repair for 16.5K. |
Nice starting point bus. |

I don’t know. To me that cargo floor looks weird. And looks like rust holes toward the front there
You’d think they’d at least take it off the trailer and hose out the floors before taking pics for the samba ad.

I had a challenging time finding late model drums. I feel like they’re getting harder to find.
Not a bad deal plus the extra brake bits. The cylinders alone are worth it if they don’t leak

This bus is in the Classified section right now;
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2660952
Seems like a very interesting oppertunity for someone to get a very complete original and not too rusty Velvet green/Pearl white Walk thru Combi for little money, considering nowadays prizes for complete and restorable buses.
It looks pretty bad on the pictures because of the white paint peeling off, but there are no visible rust holes on the underside of the doors, the floorpanels are mostly there, and even the doglegs look decent and complete. It is a walk thru, there is a engine, it has bumpers, all its glass, a VIN plate and even quite some interior pieces. So, what's not to like?
It looks like it has been painted twice over the original paint which is still visible on the left cargo door, where some paint has been stripped away. So you could end up with a nice original paint bus after paint stripping. With those vented windows and a Repro Westy kit it could be turned into a nice and versatile Mosaik camper at some point.
I wish I could get it, but I have no storage and working space right now and it's on the wrong side of the pond for me. So Hopefully it falls in the right hands of someone who can appreciate it and give it the attention and TLC that is needed. |
