Hey guys if im running 2 6x9s in the back a 4x6 in the dash spot and a 12 inch sub powered by a 260 watt amp am i risking any electrical problems. I did a search and some said that just a speaker and a tape deck is risky others said they were running 6 speaker system with beastly amps. Whats the true answer.

Depending on how much power the amp is drawing, your headlights might dim. You might want to add a capacitor.

If you pull 30 amps off the system, you will eventually drain the battery. 30 amps is the max the generator can do, not the average.
You would not be able to use the head lights, wipers, t/s, ETC.

230watts for a 12v system is 19.17amps. That means at full peak your amp would be drawing almost 2/3 of the total amperage from your generator. Not sure how the meager charging system would like that abuse. Question

Ohms law: Volt x amp = watt
So, 230watts divided by 12Volt = 19.166666amps
The number that air cooled nut came up with.

Just to show how it is figured.

Thanks Russ Smile I have the formulas in my PDA. I enter in any two of the values, tap the SOLVE button, and it gives me the third value.

If this was the rants, I would say "f__k PDA's". Too many people depend on them and calculators. Learn to do it in your head. That "calculator" usually doesn't fail until we die.
Just ranting a little.
One of my grandkids can't tell time on a clock hands on it. He's gotta have digital. Schools don't even teach them how to tell time anymore. OR the parents. I ranted on my daughter when I found that out.
