I think the big unknown of the engine ("won't start") is a factor in the price. They also mention rust. Also the East coast market may be softer than other parts of the country. _________________ 1972 Westy ("Bubbles") - Pastel White - 1700(1974 MT) - Dual Solex |

A bus that has been in the northeast for thirty years has almost no value to me. There are plenty available from the nice, dry, and salt-free southwest. _________________ 1972 Camper |

Yeah but it looks to be a pretty good east coast bus. Would be an easy project. I guess I assume any car that old needs everything anyway. Some people think they will get a daily driver for $500 bucks with no rust. Looks to be in damn good shape for $153.00. Damn!! My wife wont allow another bus!! _________________ 66 Westfalia

Looks like a demon deal to me. Not much rust for an east coast bus. _________________ '58 Westy camper-come and gone

True. The valuable buses come from the southwest and even up into the northwest. We don't use salt on the roads. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Transporter "Winston"

300 Bucks for a bus??? You can part it out for far more. Looks to be in better shape than the bus I drove from Oregon, for a tenth of the price!
Should have snatched it up, Casey! |

This is an auction.
First bid price is not the final selling price.
The seller might expect and actually sell only at a much higher price... _________________ Stock 1974 US Westy, AW-A 1800cc dual carbs. Twin Falls is my favorite site on the Churchill river in Manitoba. |

The winning bid was 305 US. A very good deal I'd say. |

I'd say a good deal also. I'd give him $500 for it in a second if only I lived closer. The parts alone are worth more than what it sold for.
Good deal in my book _________________ 1978 Westfalia |

Here is an intersting bus in Australia.
http://www.flat4ever.com/showthread.php?t=33291
The guy, Virgiles, did not buy it. May be the bus is not sold yet.
The owner wants 1000 euros about $1,280. _________________ Stock 1974 US Westy, AW-A 1800cc dual carbs. Twin Falls is my favorite site on the Churchill river in Manitoba. |

Oui, c'est interressant, mais the plupart des Sambistas ne parles pas francais, n'est-ce pas?

I guess he means: "une couille dans le potage" A very unusual slang sentence; First time I see it: "A ball in the soup". The first word alone is frequently used to mean "wrong" in a very pejorative way. "Tout est parti en couille" is like: "The shit hit the fan"
Here is, what all this thread in French, boils to:
Virgilles had tried a T2, he found the engine very weak for a 1800cc.
He was answered: Not to compare with today's 1800cc, and was given data to check wether or not the bus was on specs.
Virgilles did like the bus, however he wanted more power for long hauls across Australia.
BTW My son is, now, living in Australia, but I do not push him to buy a Westy, because he is a terrible mechanic, it is not his "cup of tea". I might go there for retirement...Spring and Summer in Canada, Spring and Summer in Australia.... _________________ Stock 1974 US Westy, AW-A 1800cc dual carbs.
