without a picture, i must ask:
is this 'thunderbird' exhaust an exhaust originally from a ford thunderbird that someone has modified to fit a bus?
or is 'thunderbird' the brand or model of the muffler?
or are you trying to retrofit a bus tow hitch on a ford thunderbird and are concerned about exhaust clearance?
i don't quite understand. |

The hitch does in fact work. A thunderbird is just a brand of exhaust, and they make an application for the type IV engine that is far superior to the stock exhaust! Here is a pic of the exhaust on my bus!

Randy I just purchased a hitch that is identical to midnites in the pics posted above on Jakes forum. I will have pics with trailer in the coming month. If anyone has a poptop section I need please! _________________ 66 Westfalia

FWIW Thunderbird Exhausts was bought by Pertronix a while back. Their catalog is here:
http://www.pertronix.com/exhaust_products/tbird_catalog.htm
Seem to have a good reputation, for their years of supplying to VW folks, including the 'Baja' & various sand buggy types. That's neat to know that there is a bay bus trailer hitch that will fit with the T-Bird system(s).
