VIN Vehicle Identification Number - can be found on the metal plate inside the front of the car (boot) and/or on the chassis (under rear seat in the middle on the part that rises), is also sometimes printed on the dashboard |

The body VIN plate is behind the spare tire. In this car, it's next to the shiftrod access plate. If your body is older, it will have a "shelf" where the brake fluid reservoir sits. The VIN plate will be against the back wall of the little "shelf". If you dont find it in either place, look for small holes. It may have been removed

Nope no plate looks as if there was some new body metal added at some point. Any tell tell sign that my body would be a 61? Guess i could take off the headliner to see if the oval was welded in... much like the ragtop was..
thanks

the whole front clip changed at 61
not to mention oval dash and windshield size was smaller.
probably a number of other changes to the body alone.
61 has a one year only hood support to fit the new trunk area but before springs were introduced in 62
the one attached to the car is a60 and earlier
the floating one is 61 only( with the holes in it)
61 has the bend as the wheel wells were moved down.
this is 61

Thanks for the info guys, and sorry to jack the post. The hood support leads me to think the body and pan are orgional... except the oval window and rag welded into it. The last owner said the oval was out of a 57, never thought it was orgional for the car but wanted to see if the body was infact a 61.
thanks
