Hello Everyone -
i am hoping someone can point me in the proper direction on obtaining this fitting or informing me on thread size so I can search for one. I need a T - Fitting to go from case that will let me put the pressure switch on the end and a gauge on the other port.
any help would be very much appreciated. Dont want to screw up the case threads....

If you have a Lowe's in your area, they have a huge selection of brass fittings. Take the sender with you to make sure the threads match it. _________________ 1973 Karmann Ghia

I have never been able to find them locally, so I just order from Ebay or Amazon, and get 5 or 10 at a time.

The 1/8" NPT thread is close enough to the stock M10 thread that it works without cross threading or damaging the case. I loctite them into the case and use a liquid filled Mashall 0-60psi gauge |

This is the popular fitting most use, its called a "street tee"..... VW oil pressure port threads are m10x1.... As many profess a 1/8 NPT "street tee" will work as there are a "close" match (but not perfect) ...

Careful with the NPT fittings as you know they are tapered and will crack the case if tightened too much. Some guys will keep turning the fitting until the gauge is at a good viewing angle and then crack, doesn't take much. _________________ "So didja?" -Bob Hoover |

Yeah m10x1 fitting is straight threads, 1/8 pipe is tapered threads....
Case boss is thin....

If you are skeptical of using the 1/8" npt fitting, here is the metric street tee
http://www.summitracing.com/search/product-line/vdo-tee-adapter-fittings/fitting-size-1/m10-x-1-0
I have installed a lot of the 1/8 tee fittings and never broken a case, in fact i like the 1/8 fitting as it generally seals well, if the factory m10 threads are worn and leaky. But, I'm sure you could strip out the threads, the mag case is delicate and the threads are fine. |
