I guess i never knew there was different kinds of rear cargo door latches. Whats the deal between the two? Year changes, what? One came of a double door panel if that makes a difference.

you can look up parts in the online parts list... see this page, look on the right hand side:
http://oacdp.freeweb7.com/5867part/447.png
you can see the A version takes different check rods than the B version... the B version takes the kind with circles for the bolt to go through that bolts to the mechanism on the arms that stick out.
The check rod for the A mechanism has a little notch that hooks inside the mechanism. The mechanism does not have arms. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

ok so i had the "A" from a box of parts i had. And i had the other side door latch, the big one with the arms that come out that the rods screw on to, so naturaly i thought that i needed the "B" one cause it had the arms that stick up for the rods to screw on to as well. I just looked at both "A" and "B" and it looks like the mounting holes are on the same side on the "A" and opposite on the "B" my 58 door has them on both sides. Also how and what do i use for the rods on the "A" latch?
Sorry if that reads like a tard wrote it, but it makes sence to me......LOL _________________

Last night I was assembling this mechanism on my 59 std and in the bag that I labeled 2-years ago was the mechanism "A" but it also had two little spring clips that I cant figure out how they fit. My Bently is a 63-67 and only shows the later "B" style.
Anyone have an exploded view or description of how these spring clips work?
Thanks.

As Everett says there are two holes in both styles. The real question is over the placement of the holes. If the holes line up vertically you need an A style. If the holes are offset you'll need a B style.
The A and B styles accept different style rods. The A's have a notched rod and the B's have a rod with holes for screws to attach to.
The OACDP is great for this stuff, like Clara pointed out. |
