| ok so I searched for hours and can't find an answer to the question "what are the dimensions on where the bullet signals are located on the fender" I plan on making my own with a 58' fender, and I know the fender may be slightly different shape, there won't be a conduit tube on the back, ect, ect. I am not concerned with these things. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance |

I don't know the dimensions, but a 58 fender should still have the headlight tube. Are you sure you have 58 fenders to begin with? _________________ (O\U|U/O) Top Vw (o\UU/o) |

| thanks dave, I don't really care if they sre from a 58' just as long as they are og, like I said haven't seen the guys car yet, but even if they are not 58' can tell if they are og by the weight, thickness and the roll on the edge, I just heard 58' were still shaped the same as bullet fenders, or very close, just didn't know they had the tube still. I was actually going to contact you dave cause I know you are collecting body dimensions, you don't have the location of the bullet signals yet? |

You were told wrong. 58 and later fenders are shaped very differently from 57 and older ones. The trained eye can tell from 10' away. _________________

If you can wait until Wednesday afternoon, I can give you the location of the bullet assemblies off of the OG/NOS fenders that I have for my 56 bug. The fenders that I have came from a retired Canadian VW dealership owner and had been in storage for over 40 years, still having the original item number tags and markings on them.
I am off to Chicago tomorrow and will be checking on the progress on my 56 at the body shop when I return to California on Wednesday afternoon.

Got back late today, will go see the beast tomorrow and take photos and make measurements, etc.
Sun Motors in Artesia is doing the work.
Slow, but man do they do it right. I will be placing my 67 vert with them next.

Ok, here is what we have on the stock 56 bug fenders, These measurements were taken with a straight edge and framing square, so they do not acknowledge the curve of the fender. We worked this by lining up the straight edge and framing square and then eye balled the dimension. I hope these will work for you, you can also see the orientation of the bullet to the fender and the headlight bucket. These fenders are NOS kept in storage up in Canada for over 40 years, so they are the genuine thing. As you know, the bullet light holder goes over the mount (which is spot welded to the fender). If you need more information, PM me and I will send you the full size .jpeg files, both dimensioned and undimensioned. If you need additional dimensions, let me know. _________________ Charlie

Yes, these are real OG NOS fenders, the real thing, out of storage for over 40 years from a retired VW Dealer's stock, still had the original handwritten parts number tags attached. It took me 4 months and over 250 emails to find these and when I was contacted, I had only two words - "How much?" The rest is history. _________________ Charlie
