No bushing is correct on Ovals, just the guide plate.

Hi,

That is correct no bushings on the ovals BUT..... IF the PO has ever replaced the shift rod guide due to a worn out hole or a broken finger, he most likely welded in the newer style that DOES have a bushing, not quite so clear cut but the odds are high for you, no bushing unless your oval in on a 1960 or newer pan.

Then again, this is one of those questions that comes up over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Hello-

I replaced the shifter rod bracket in my oval a few weeks ago. There wasn't that much play, so I wasn't sure it was going to be worth the trouble. I'm so glad I did it! I now have much more precise shifting and I can finally downshift. Highly recommended.

I have a 60, and when I had the shift rod out, there was no bushing. Didnt know it was supposed to. I thought that started in the late 60's. Oh well, learn something new everyday. No problems with mine, but maybe I need to find a bushing.

You can say that again, and again, and again......The shift rod bushing topic can be made into a sticky, it's asked way too often
