Those of you that know me, know how aften I am at a loss for words.

This is one of those instances.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
Crap, this one HURTS.
Sincere condolences to Anna and the rest of David's family.
I'll never forget the Bad Camberg Meet, when David climbed up the ladder truck to get some overhead shots for me.

Godspeed Dave. I certainly hope you were able to use the correct parts I sold you for your lowlight.

I bet there's a stash of Kamax bolts waiting for you in the Afterlife!

Wow, I am deeply saddened to hear the bad news.
Does anyone have more info on what exactly happened ?
He was way too young.
I'll miss him.

Truly sad news. Seams a lot of VW as well as scientific knowledge is now lost. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I bought and sold stuff from Dave M many times ,mainly Speedwell accessories . It looks like the 'dry side of Oregon ' has lost its best known son

Kamax, Dorn, Rasche, Verbus, he loved them all!

Hopefully he is looking through the piles of NOS 9mm headed 5mm splashpan bolts right now.

shocking news, I used to email David every 6 months or so chasing up parts or asking his advice, I still go to local shows keeping an eye out for the speedwell shock absorbers he wanted for the ghia, and was checking out "amayesing" only today. He was a top guy.

This is an infrared photo of a hayfield.
Dr. Mayes invented techniques for determining the health of crops by examining the way light at various wavelengths reflects from the crops.
I know this may sound boring, but his work will live on.
Creating something from an idea to help the planet is something very few can do.
David Mayes was one of those few.
Just wanted those who didn't know him to hear a little about who he was.
I hope he would have enjoyed this:

this is super sad news- I was just looking though some gallery pictures yesterday and came across a picture of Dave "picking cherries with the cherry picker" - even though I only met him in person once, he'll be missed-

condolences to the family-
