|

ive been looking at a 57 sundial camper and this person is looking to get 22 but has considered less. my question is since there is no real price list for these buses what I should be paying for this bus in its condition? it runs and drives has a 1600sp with most of the interior except the fridge and sink comb. the bus is painted but has rust on the nose on the lower part and has a bad bondo job on one corner or the rear where its cracking. the rust under the bus looks minimal except for root in the floor driver seat. I would appreciate the advice. the link on the bottom as reference.

It is a '67 not '57 if that matters to you. Sundial didn't do '57s'.
That Sundial is dolled up but looks really solid and well kept. Moneywise all I can add is that bus campers are worth a lot especially in good condition. |

It's a kombi sundial, which is much better than a sundial based off a panel.
I would suggest pricing it like similar condition 64-67 kombi's, and if the fact it is a camper appeals to you, then it's just a bonus. Higher value than a 64-67 panel or panel based camper in similar condition and completeness
best of luck _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I would guess between $20K to $23K as it is right now. From the few ad photos and brief description it appears pretty solid underneath. I'm not a fan of all the chrome goodies on that Bus, that's a negative for me. But the more solid body you can get the better start you'll have on a nice Split-Bus camper as you fix up and personallize it. I have a non-walk-thru '67 Sundial Camper (mine is a Kombi, not a Panel Bus conversion) which I gutted and converted with a complete SO-42 Westfalia interior back in the early 1980's. A great and functional Camper, never going to be for sale! Very similar to this one, a Kombi initially converted by Sundial.

The windows can be louvered (jalousie)... or tip out (awning)... in either body style. The difference is how the window is mounted to the bus.
Panel conversion has the windows mounted on the surface of the body.
Kombi has windows, so the camper windows are inset just a fuzz... into the factory window opening.

most panels will have vents in the rear. not all, and lots are bondo'd up
most panel campers do not have the 11th window on the rear passenger side. There would be no need to add a window in the closet... _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I have asked this question once before but still in the nees of some more information and guidens. Ive been looking at this 1967 vw split window sundial camper for sometime and was looking for peoples suggestions as to what to look out for and what would be a reasonable price in its cirrent state. Give you a run down of the vehicle I recently went to go see it and noticed a little bit of bubbling in the paint at the bottom of the nose which is fairly common but still an issue I also notice that in the passenger side rear panel there was a small hit only visible through the inside where the battery tray goes but through the outside was noticeable due to a poor bondo job done and therefore the paint is cracking. As for the inside it looks fairly well but there would need to be a read do on the interieur the closet will need to be redone as some of the wood is peeling as far as the paneling goes on the other sides of the bus the door it is fairly well the upholstery on the seats Stephanie has to be redone. Here are some pictures of all around the bus please help me
