I'm now the proud owner of this 70 Notchback It's runing a 1770 engine, big dellorto's, straight cut timing gear, eagle cam
Originally from Australia but now over here in the UK. The cars now my daily and i've got a 66 Hi Top Split panel van project.
One question on the dash board though...it's a RHD so on the left of the steering wheel there's 2 twist switches 1 above the other...i must admit i have no idea what the do...guess there heater controls but they don't seem to do a lot! |

Sounds like they are the knobs for the fresh air boxes. The top one directs fresh air towards the windshield, the bottom one out under the dash. Post a photo if you can...
I have a 70 Notch I bought here in Italy. Some differences between my dash and all the others:
- No brake warning light
- No hazard light switch
- No defroster switch
- A vacant switch hole right next to the headlight switch
- And a small blue light between them (not hooked up, maybe a PO addition?)
And nice color by the way... |

And of course he used a 1971 owners manual, instead of a 70.
Nice Notch by the way. I like "late" ones. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Yes, they are commonly referred to as Riviera's, but that's incorrect. These were dealer only option rims made by Whitney Industries. These were cast by Pacific Light Metals Foundry from A356-T6 tempered alloy (with a steel rim). These are the same rims used on the Formula Vee Beetles.
Riviera's are aftermarket rims. I don't know who made them first, but there's been several iterations of them.
5 1/2 wide rim
4 1/2 wide rim (notice the shallow lip)
These are Riviera's that someone has ground down the raised portion of the spoke and polished.
compaired to and Original G.T. Mag Type Rim

Yeah, on the manuals page it's labeled as Aug of 70 but is posted on the 71's. I would be interested to see if anyone has another version of the 70 manual. The only 70 on the site is in Dutch.
edit: Somehow I skipped right over the Aug of 69 manual in the 70 section _________________ 71 Squareback
