I need to source a ring gear and pinion shaft for my late 1958 split case gearbox. The gearbox is 113-301-101B

There are plenty of these for sale in the classified section but I need to ascertain which part numbers I need.

Can anyone here help me work out what I need, please?

The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project (link below) has a bunch of hard and important original VW factory to dealership literature that are a must to go thru often. Amongst those is the type 2 parts manuals.

http://www.oacdp.org/

You will want to get used to the ten part organized sections in the parts manuals.
Enjoy!!

IIRC, the pinion shaft has eight teeth for tunnel case, and there are various ring gears
split case pinion shaft has seven teeth,

check the parts list for part numbers Smile

Thanks very much. I found exactly what I needed on there.

Thanks, interesting point about the number of teeth. Mine is a split case but my gearbox rebuilder has it so I don't know how many it has, waiting for him to get back to me.

Seeing your forum name has reminded me that I need to get in touch with you about interior panels, I'll do that via PM.

Thanks.
