I put my front speakers in the kick panels b/c the OG panels were shot, while the OG door panels are in great shape and don't deserve to be hacked into.

Crappy pic of my (removable face) head unit, but half decent shot of my hack mod. It is wood spray-painted black, but I might go in and cover it with black vinyl for a more factory-like appearance. I'm also thinking of adding some sort of mounting for phones & iPods between the speakers.

the board is mounted to the parking brake structure with a couple of these:

Hey I kind-a like that! I will have to look at something similar maybe angle them so there more under the dash and pointing more at the driver and pass legs.

Didn't want to hack my cabinets at the back or but into my underseat storage, so made these speaker boxes to house the 7x5's - I can angle them towards the party...

Not perfect - bit big to take on a long trip with the kids / dog / wife / all our crap...but not bad...

prettier than the fuzzy black boxes that eventually get black fuzzy crap all over everything...

...and I dig the spare tire-shaped pillow...

The stocker in my 78 worked great and I liked having the stock look so I put my head unit in the glove box. The remote for the head unit and ipod are stuck on the dash with velcro. I put the velcro below the radio because the PO put a couple of holes in the dash to mount a drink holder Crying or Very sad I made the speaker boxes out of some old shelving and covered them with felt from Joann's. Check out the bus door pull handles ( a cool idea I saw here somewhere).

I placed jacks about 18" from the boxes, and left about 8 or 10' of wire for each speaker rolled up under the seat so I can disconnect and move the speakers to the back or top.

My camper got the good stereo. The nice thing with this Sony is it’s all black and blends in well. I don’t care for most of the newer “disco look” stereos.

Front speakers are in the doors, but the back ones I mounted in the hatch. I angled the panel to get clearance. Sounds great and it’s nice to have music when I’m working on the engine.

My second bus got the good old 8-track player.

Not to hijack this thread..but someone on here suggested to me to vacuum form a radio block off plate and they were willing to send me one for theirs to get returned plus a couple of what I would come up with.

I do have a boat load of "to do's" on my list but....not enough energy to do everything. Sucks being over 55 and thinking you are still in your 20's at lest in your mind! LOL... Laughing

Looks like that rear hatch had to be shimmed out for the speaker magnets?

I'm planning soon to have door speaker holes cut out done from me for the customer on a special order but I still need to get all the speaker holes combos masters done.
