This is my 1971 1302 (Super Beetle) which has a single port 1200cc factory installed engine. Notice the engine lid without a set of vents. It doesn't have a padded dash either. It was originally Shantung Yellow, but the P.O. had it painted to dark blue. I kinda like it and I'm sticking with it.. :)
They sometimes refer to this model as "1302A".. "A" means "no fancy options" in German.. :)
Feel free to ask any questions.
Here are some pictures :
Note : The last picture was how it looked before I bought it. Please ignore the crappy hubcaps.. :) _________________ http://karakalemportre.weebly.com/ --> My Dad's Artistic Work - Check it out..!

I bet a heavy 1302 is speed demon with 1200 engine.
Good gas mileage must pay off though? _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

I thought so!
Just made a thread:

By the way, I notice here Beetles referred to often as 1302'big', what does that mean?

I assume a 1200 engine wasn't standard for a 1302? Why would anyone put one in? |

1200 is standard thats why this one is a 1302A not a 1302S
It was a European thing I think where taxes related to engine capacity but someone who knows more will have to chime in.
most markets supers were only 1600 but in Europe they could be ordered with a 1200, 1300 and 1600, as 1302A, 1302 and 1302S respectively. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?
