Anyone know if a type 4 engine will fit neatly into a type 3? Specifically, a squareback? Any examples / photos of this? I tried doing a forum search, but am not finding anything. |

No, I have one in my Square-vert too. It's a 1.7L 914 engine. I still have the 2.0L that I took out of it though. Mine's running D-jet. If the OP does a search of my screen name in the Gallery, in the Squareback section, he'll see a few pics there.
It does fit very nicely, only slight trimming of the engine tin (on the left rear corner), and goes into the car almost as easily as a regular t-3 engine. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

How long have you been running this configuration? I ask because I see you are running a stock IRS sub rather than doing the conversion. Any issues with flex?

conversion???
the 411 (originally what the T4 engine came in)
was an IRS and i will tell you owning both
they are not that different
I mean they are different
but not enough to "flex" stuff _________________ 74 Mexi Swamp Thing. 70 square volksrod (Swamp Rat)..65 C10

hanger wont, but those pesky spot welds and pissy engine bay sheet metal will.
I have seen plenty of cracked/split engine bay metal from just stock 1600.
SA frame with kafer bars is best
or how about SA frame, kafer bars and rear hanger. The ultimatenessly bestest ! !!! |
