I have a few of question about my mirror. First , it is frozen in place. I put a little PB Blaster on it but that didn't help. Should I try some heat?
Second , the little black knob is also frozen in place. I would assume that this is the on/off switch for the light. I don't want to break anything. Lastly , is there a replaceable bulb inside? The white cover is very dirty. I would like to remove it to do a cleaning but I dont want to damage it. I am hoping that someone in the community has some answer. Thanks

The black knob does control the light.
3 position like modern cars. 1 on with door open 2 off always 3 on always

Yes, replaceable lamp inside.

It may not be "frozen" at the adjustment ball.

One way to "fix" a loose mirror was to put a prop of super glue in, and adjust it to where the driver liked it. I hope this has not happened to you.

Anywho, the full up mirror assembly is the same as a beetle convertible, if you go looking for a replacement.

You might find this link to be informative..........

Just an FYI, NO HEAT! You are dealing with a largely plastic assembly here.

Many used ones are in the classifieds here.

Which mirror is the same as a Beetle Convertible? I am not aware of any side view or rear view mirror that is shared between a 71 Ghia and a Beetle. A Beetle mirror will not work or fit right if used on a Ghia. If you have a good original be careful with it as they are hard to find and repros are generally of poor quality. As for the operation of the interior light here is the owner's manual.

Here is the 1973 Beetle owners manual.

The convertible mirrors share all the features of the 69 and newer Ghia mirrors.

A question is the length of the mirror arm, is it the same as the Ghia's?

Since he was talking about the black adjuistment knob and the dome light, I assumed it was the interior rear view mirror.
My 71 Ghia had the exact same assy as my 70 convertible beetle. Aircooled backs this up, as John shows the same unit for both.
